Many didn't warm to snowless holiday (Al Gore supporter says global warming hurt Christmas)
Boston Globe ^ | December 26, 2006 | Michael Levenson

Jeanine Browne knew something was amiss the moment she strolled into the Public Garden yesterday morning with her 5-month-old whippet, Cocoa . Birds were chirping, the grass was green, and families were playing football in sweatshirts, no hats or gloves needed.

The historic Boston park utterly lacked a key ingredient for classic yuletide cheer: snow.

"I want icicles dripping from the trees. I want 32 degrees. I want a white Christmas," Browne protested. "I might as well be in San Francisco if I wanted a Christmas like this."

I guess. We had a very warm December here in DC and I still have a $371 bill from Washington Gas. I am not a happy camper. Far as I'm concerned Christmas could be eighty degrees.

At the rate the Massachusetts Supreme Court is going, she already is.

I absolutely was ecstatic that we had no snow. We had freezing rain last night and one of my daughters claimed they had 2 or 3 inches of snow overnight. I don't care what has caused us to not have snow yet. It won't last and by March we'll be digging out from the normal 2 or 3 feet. But I'm enjoying the lack thereof now.

Jeanine Browne doth whineith too damn much. If she wants a white Christmas, she needs to move to Fairbanks, Alaska. She demonstrates one of the problems so common with so many Americans these days. Everything always has to be perfect. If it had been 32 degrees and snowing, you can bet should would be whining about not being able to walk her 5 month old whippet in the park because it was too cold and slippery.

Let's not forget Tom, either:

Tom Nolan , a grandfather who was strolling on Castle Island in South Boston with his cocker spaniel, Bailey , said he was worried about global warming. "They laugh and mimic Al Gore, but I believe him," Nolan said. "It's a major problem. Maybe not today, but years down the pike."

"She demonstrates one of the problems so common with so many Americans these days."

She also demonstrates how so many people have such short memories and a lack of critical thinking. I grew up in Ohio and I remember mild winters and rough winters. I warm winter this year does not mean all in the future will also be warm.

Perhaps the little flakes didn't come in enough abundance for Christmas, However the winter season isn't over yet.

I guess algore driving over 85mph in that big luxury SUV the State Troopers caught him in does not count in the global warming mix.

We are the only ones who must be Green and play by the rules.

Exactly. I was living at Grand Canyon, Arizona during December 1967 when we were snowed in with five feet of snow over 10 days. Flagstaff got 105 inches during that same time period. We would have blamed those storms on "global warming" but Algore hadn't invented it yet.

I was at Wainwright for four years back in the 80s. I sure do miss that place. I check the News Miner's web cam at least once everyday.
