It's a feeling you have then, and not something you have read on the internet or heard somewhere?
Is that right?

Time to reflect on how lucky to be an American and compare the life of one President -Gerald Ford to that of Saddam Hussein.
Ironic that one was not "elected" and one was.
That says it all about our Republic and the wisdom of our Founding Fathers.
I'm going outside to kiss the earth.

i am thinking that i wish they would just keep him imprisoned for life instead There is no "imprisoned for life" in the Muslim world.
There is only "imprisoned until an administration finds it convenient to release".
The only way to be sure of his punishment, is to carry it out while he's still under US physical control

I know exactly what you're talking about.
After they cut down Saddam's body, he will suddenly awaken, eyes wide, with red flaming iris', suddenly in a perfect English voice, he will arise, look into the television cameras, and say 'BEHOLD, I WAS DEAD BUT NOW I LIVE!', and as the gathered witnesses shake and tremble in terror, one reporter steps up and says 'M-m-m-mr H-h-h-husssein? Does this sudden return from death itself, and that red glow in your eyes, does it mean that you are that Biblical figure referred to in some prophecies as the (shudder) ANTICHRIST?!?'
And with a demonic grin on his face, Saddam looks into the cameras, knowing that somewhere, President George W. Bush is watching, and he says:
"No, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night!"
IOW, stop worrying my FRiend, the world is about to rid itself of a genocidal war criminal no different than Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot or Slobbo in the old Yugoslavia.

Considering the state of prisons and judiciary, that isn't hopeful any more.
Consider how many terrorists, detained in ME countries, have managed escape in recent years.
Consider some of the judicial decisions made in the US -- rapists, child molesters, killers given minimal sentences or freed by radical judges. We can't even be assured that a 'life sentence' is for life any more.
The judgment against Saddam Hussein was through due process. Does he have a greater right to live than his victims did? He judged that they should die.
The death penalty will always raise such considerations -- and it should. We should never apply it lightly; it should make us ponder our judgment.

I am feeling exactly the same way.
Maybe it's because without the pomp and circumstance, he's simply an old frail man right now...who despite his past and means, kept Iraq a somewhat peaceful country....as far as tribal conflicts.
I would rather he serve life in solitary confinement and out of the public eye completely.

And risk the chance of him someday returning to power if the situation in Iraq deteriorates even further? No, I think the world - and Iraq - are better off with him dead. His supporters can threaten violence, but they are ALREADY engaging in violence on a daily basis. Now, if they promised to STOP the violence if Saddam is spared, I might listen. But violent people promising more violence does not constitute a bargaining chip, in my opinion. Saddam's death in a small way will lead Iraq away from its past and hopefully marginally nudge Iraq towards a better future.

i am thinking that i wish they would just keep him imprisoned for life instead If they do that, the Iraqi people will fear Saddam coming back into power until he dies. They have expressed that fear on several occasions.
Saddam's execution will be a big step in allowing the people to move forward.

Actually, this is the best possible outcome. Consider:
- Despite the use of the word "martyr", an Islamic martyr is one who takes out the enemy with him. Saddam, by being killed by the enemy isn't a martyr, he's weak.
- Now the Saddamites (as opposed to al Qaeda) have no hope. There will be no Saddam, no Hussein to run Iraq, no matter what happens.

Heads of state, in particular dictators are normally executed because they have a loyal following that can rise up to support their leader again while he is in prison.
In other words he needs killing.
