Sergeants make the world run right. Without sergeants, the world would be one huge sh*thole.
Bump
There are so many things carter did to destroy the country picking on one failed action is like picking up sand one piece at a time to clean up a beach. There also are many more examples of his spineless life to pick from.
Roger that.
As former USAF ('62-'66), the deal was that if you wanted ANYTHING done, see the unit's senior NCO. They, are, indeed, the reason the services function at all.
My favorite in that area is Sgt. Major Basil Plumley. See the excellent film "We Were Soldiers" for who he is.
"Failure to do so -- by Bush 1, Clinton and Bush 2 --almost certainly assures that the enemy is NOW within the gates."
Actually, I fear our native-born, whose "contributions" were so well laid out in this article, far more than the illegals coming over from Mexico.
This man put to words the thoughts of many of us...
Tell it like it is CSM. Wow
Ford was an honorable man who made the best of a difficult position, but his comment that there is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe demonstrated an incredible lack of insight into international affairs. Maybe he would not have thrown the Shah under the bus, maybe he would have reacted decisively to the capture of our embassy. Since it didn't happen, we can't say. All we can say is that Three Mile Island is the symbol of the Carter presidency.
It's absolutely OUTRAGEOUS that our so-called MSM (who is also complicit in the democrats anti-US rhetoric) allows them to get away with it with such little discussion and attention. Outrageous, absolutely OUTRAGEOUS.
And to think that the democrats did so well in this last election. Unbelievable.
You forgot Ronald Reagan, who signed the first and, so far, only amnesty for illegal aliens in our history.
You also forgot every president going back to George Washington, because our bordes have been wide open from the get-go.
You also seem to forget that history did not begin with Bush 41, who was in office from Jan. 1989 to Jan. 1993.
But hey...don't let me burst your bubble.
We flew into an Air Force base and stayed overnight.
At breakfast in the officer's mess, the chef - yes I said "chef" - asked me how I wanted my eggs - scrambled or over easy. I thought we had landed in a four star restaurant.
I asked if he could make an omelet. The chef inquired if I wanted a two or three egg omelet and what kind of cheese I would like in the omelet. I was wrong - we had landed in heaven.
That was the best breakfast I ate in my career.
I've passed this on to my conservative buddies.
A CSM's job is to sort the flyshit from the pepper and get things done. Seems to me that this old troop hasn't lost the touch.
bttt
The mission was obviously planned by politicians and stood no chance. These brave men were sent to their death.
The military rescue mission was the correct thing to do. You don't agree?
A properly planned and executed mission would have been the correct thing to do.
You want to nitpick because it failed? Be my guest.
My being correct and you being wrong doesn't mean that my statements are nitpicking.
But do it without me.
Not a problem. If you don't think that Carter is spineless then we have nothing further to discuss.
God bless you all, best wishes for the new year, and thank you all for your service to our country.
Why? Because it failed? Tell me what's so "obvious" about it.
You don't know. You don't have a clue.
Do a little research.
You will be amazed at how little you know of the "rescue".
Why? I've already made my point -- you've agreed the military rescue mission was the correct thing to do. Authorizing such a mission is contrary to a "lack of spine".
