Dallas, long known as a Baptist stronghold and home of Stetson-wearing business types, is touting a new image: gay travel destination. The city has joined other locations, such as Philadelphia and Fort Lauderdale, in actively reaching out to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender visitors.
"Our secret is out," says a page at www.dallascvb.com, the city's official tourism Web site. The page lists venues of special appeal to gay travelers, including Oak Lawn, a neighborhood with a predominantly gay population, bars, museums and more than 20 gay-friendly hotels.

Dallas County elected an openly lesbian sheriff, and many of the county wide offices went democrat. The largest Baptist church in town moved to Denton County a few years ago.

Funny, I thought it meant being accepting of people whose lifestyles don't happen to jive with yours.
Was Dallas not "gay friendly" before? And since when was a sexual act a lifestyle? Are there any "twice a week with his wife in the missionary position" friendly destinations out there? Because that's my "lifestyle".

"perverts to revel with" is correct.

...more than 20 gay-friendly hotels. What are those? Do they have only entry in the rear?

Hey, Houston has a more infamous gay mecca, the Montrose, but I haven't heard about a CofC campaign for it yet.

We have it pretty good here in Idaho. Beautiful mountains, great hunting and fishing, a conservative legislature and governor, growing economies, and oh yeah...a new law on the books banning homosexual marriage. Any good people looking for a great place to live, come on up here...maybe y'all can displace some of the pukes from Kalifornia, Oregon and Washington who are trying to ruin our beautiful,
conservative state.

We should thank WoPo for the warning!! Another city on list for our "no fly zone" also no drive zone! Won't be visiting any of these cities.
I have heard it said this will pass, but it seems to be happening more and more as far as I can see. The list of blocked TV shows and news programs due to their offensive material is staggering, leaving not much left to watch. The list of business, also staggering, due to their offensive policies and advertising. Cities our family will visit or even drive through, also growing, but none as fast as the list of schools who's enrollment has dropped by as much as 40%. One has to wonder what it is going to take to stop these degenerates.

It's actually "Beer, steers and are queers."
Capitalists don't care the sexual orientation of the buyer or visitor just the money s/he uses. As long as they obey the law, don't urinate in public places, and wear pants under their chaps, who cares if TX wants gay tourism dollars.

It's got to be a challenging job to think of ways to bring tourists to Dallas. A nice city for doing business and raising a family, sure, but filling those hotel rooms on weekends must be hell.
To: nmh
Dallas was already on your list of places to visit? What, was Fresno too 2005 for your tastes?
