Dallas, long known as a Baptist stronghold and home of Stetson-wearing business types, is touting a new image: gay travel destination. The city has joined other locations, such as Philadelphia and Fort Lauderdale, in actively reaching out to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender visitors.
"Our secret is out," says a page at www.dallascvb.com, the city's official tourism Web site. The page lists venues of special appeal to gay travelers, including Oak Lawn, a neighborhood with a predominantly gay population, bars, museums and more than 20 gay-friendly hotels.

Capitalists don't care the sexual orientation of the buyer or visitor just the money s/he uses. As long as they obey the law, don't urinate in public places, and wear pants under their chaps, who cares if TX wants gay tourism dollars. Straight married people with kids go to Branson. Let the queers fund Dallas and come have a wholesome time here in the show-me state.

"Gay friendly" simply means a place where you can readily find like-minded perverts to revel with. Why else would they need to congregate somewhere? Are they being turned away from restaurants and hotels elsewhere?"
That is part of it. But there are also activities, stickers in store windows, rainbow flags displayed, things like that, that define it as gay friendly. Nauseating but true.
What I find appalling is that realtor's cannot state anywhere when selling a house, that the area is family friendly. Because it implies other areas aren't. THAT I do not get at all!

"Dallas was already on your list of places to visit? What, was Fresno too 2005 for your tastes?"
Neither one is worth visiting. When in Calif. we purposely stay in Carmel instead of San Francisco as we used to stay when visiting relatives.
Perversion doesn't entertain us or relax us.
It disgusts us.

"And since when was a sexual act a lifestyle? Are there any "twice a week with his wife in the missionary position" friendly destinations out there? Because that's my "lifestyle"."
LOL like we would ever see a "heteronormative friendly" place. (their non term, not mine) We might be seeing a "swinger friendly" city, or a "sadomasochistic friendly" city, or a "dominatrix friendly" friendly. Soon after that, "bestiality friendly", "Porn friendly" "Pedophilia friendly" take your pick! Heck they are all sexual lifestyles too.

"[cue Louis Gossett as Gunny Emil Foley]" Ah yes, An Officer and a Gentleman released in 1982, what a great movie!
However, as a current resident of Texas, I must defend our honor and point out it's Oklahoma in the film script that Gunnery Sergeant Foley insults, which makes infinitely more sense to me. :-)
The only portion of the exchange between the characters in the scene that I can post on Free Republic appears below:
FOLEY: Where are you from, boy?
SID: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
FOLEY: Only two things come out of Oklahoma, steers and queers. Which one are you, boy? I don't see any horns so you must be a queer.
SID: No, sir.

Twice a week in the missionary position? You don't look like you're in your 70's in your photograph.
It's closer to ten or twelve in all kinds of positions, but I didn't want to look like a circus freak.

"Funny, I thought it meant being accepting of people whose lifestyles don't happen to jive with yours."
No, gay-friendly means being forced to give your approval, support and special cival rights for people whose lifestyles don't happen to jive with yours.

They need to put out a promotional brochure advertising the state's best gas station and truck stop restrooms.

There is, just as there is honor in many places. Its just that the ones with big mouths get all the attention. Once more of the other 90% of the population starts paying attention things will change.

Dallas? No freggin` way! Well there goes Texas. Did they have the usual gay parade yet with Hillary marching? That`s Hillarys only accomplishment by the way. That and going on book tours. Marching in gay parades wearing her pantsuit or Mao suit. This according to liberals, qualifies her to not only be Senator but POTUS
Hi! I love you all! I am a lesbian just like you! Now buy my book!
