I posted this comment after the one you read. "If what I just heard is correct, the explosion was only to open up the packaging. Once that is done, the cameras on the robot can get a better look at what is inside that package."
So now we're waiting to hear what was INSIDE that package now that they have opened it up through detonation. They may have used water to do that.
If I were on the ship I'd take a jaunt to South Beach until this explosive element was outta' there.
