BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition Forces killed eight terrorists and detained seven suspected terrorists during a series of raids which began Saturday and ended Monday to capture al-Qaida in Iraq leaders in the Tarmiyah area.

During the second day of the raids, Coalition Forces began taking enemy fire as terrorists were attempting to remove weapons and explosives from a weapons cache on an island in the Tigris River. Coalition Forces engaged, killing four terrorists.

That evening, more armed terrorists attempted to gain access to the weapons cache and began firing at a Coalition Forces security detail. Coalition Forces returned fire and killed an additional four terrorists.

The weapons caches, six in all, consisted of 12 AK-47s, 20 rocket-propelled grenade launchers, 20 rocket-propelled grenades, five 82 mm mortar systems, sniper rifles, armor piercing rounds, several 80 mm rocket launchers, improvised explosive device materials and an assortment of mortar grenade fuses.

Some of the caches were hidden in underground bunkers. Coalition Forces destroyed the caches on site to prevent further use by terrorists. Coalition Forces will continue deliberate and methodical operations in order to hunt down and capture or kill terrorists who are trying to prevent a peaceful and stable Iraq. These operations will continue to be successful with the support and cooperation of the Iraqi people.

YOU nailed it!!

This will never see the light of the MSM day. Don't care. This is what it's all about. Maybe Tony Snow should start giving out terrorist death numbers in his daily briefings. Why the hell not? The daily tote board of the brave American fatalities is in practically every damn newspaper every day.

Maybe the coalition should have turned the cache into a giant IED to give the Islamofacists a taste of their own medicine.

Thx. There definitely needs to be more media coverage on the headway the troops are making in Iraq.

I read today that so far this year (Jan 2007) there has been 15 murders in Baltimore. This is more than troops killed in Iraq (God bless their souls). Nobody is screaming for everyone to move out of Baltimore because of the thugs there, instead they are trying to find a way to clean up the mess. (www.wjz.com)
