TOKYO (AP) -- Japan's Meteorological Agency issues tsunami warning for country's east coast after magnitude 8.3 earthquake in northern Japan.
It's 245pm in Japan. Clik on my profile -- the Weather Underground device blinks the local time for Okinawa.
I'm watching for news from PETROPAVLOVSK.

It's on every TV channel in Tokyo. Pacific and north coast of Hokkaido in red, the entire coastline of Honshu down to Osaka in yellow.
Didn't feel the earthquake though.

it is now 0546Z
They just issued the second tsunami warning update from the pacific tsunami center.
It shows the new magnitude estimate of 8.2 from noaa, and hawaii is still on the tsunami watch list

IT IS NOT KNOWN THAT A TSUNAMI WAS GENERATED. THIS WARNING IS
BASED ONLY ON THE EARTHQUAKE EVALUATION. AN EARTHQUAKE OF THIS
SIZE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO GENERATE A DESTRUCTIVE TSUNAMI THAT CAN
STRIKE COASTLINES NEAR THE EPICENTER WITHIN MINUTES AND MORE
DISTANT COASTLINES WITHIN HOURS. AUTHORITIES SHOULD TAKE
APPROPRIATE ACTION IN RESPONSE TO THIS POSSIBILITY. THIS CENTER
WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR SEA LEVEL DATA FROM GAUGES NEAR THE
EARTHQUAKE TO DETERMINE IF A TSUNAMI WAS GENERATED AND ESTIMATE
THE SEVERITY OF THE THREAT.
ESTIMATED INITIAL TSUNAMI WAVE ARRIVAL TIMES. ACTUAL ARRIVAL TIMES

okay this report is only seconds old.
It is tsunami report #3. #2 mentioned hawaii and the 8.2 magnitude update.
#3 now says,
"A Tsunami Warning is in effect which includes the Alaska coastal areas from Dutch Harbor, Alaska to Attu, Alaska.
A Tsunami Watch is in effect for the British Columbia and Alaska coastal areas from the north tip of Vancouver I., British Columbia to Dutch Harbor, Alaska."
Just be careful.
