Baby Mamas Defend Gangster in Rape Trial

TRENTON -- Two women who have children fathered by rape defendant Brett "Prince" Barden testified yesterday that the purported city gang member was busy babysitting his troubled son at the time he is accused by police of having sex with a 12-year-old Lawrence girl.

In the final day of testimony, Gladys Santiago, of Camden, testified that at the time in question, she had forced the defendant to watch their 8-year-old son -- who was suspended from school in June 2004 -- while she was at work.

Advertisement "I thought it was time for his father to step up," Santiago said. "It was overwhelming."

According to testimony, Barden, 35, allegedly slept with his daughter’s preteen friend that spring to "educate her about sex."

Barden, who law enforcement sources at one time claimed was a "Young Gangster" with the city’s Bounty Hunter Bloods gang, is also accused of having sex with the girl numerous other times up to January 2005 during sleepovers the victim had at the defendant’s North Olden Avenue home.

But at that time, according to Santiago, Barden was living with her in Camden.

Santiago said that in June 2004, Barden would stay with their son during the day. Sometimes, she said, he was in Camden by 7:30 a.m. when she left for work, but sometimes he wasn’t -- leaving her daughter to care for Barden’s son before she left for school.

During yesterday’s cross-examination by Mercer County Assistant Prosecutor Renee Robeson, Santiago admitted she didn’t really know if Barden spent the entire day in Camden.

However, she testified Barden was home watching their son when she returned from work each day.

Maria Barden, who wed the defendant last December when the trial was originally set to begin, testified that she knew Barden was in Camden every day to watch his son.

She said he left each night to make sure he was in Camden in time to watch his suspended son.

"I knew he needed to watch his son," Maria testified.

She worked at a state agency with the alleged victim’s mother starting in July 1996 and has known the victim since she was 8.

Maria Barden, who has two children with the defendant, including the victim’s one time best friend, kicked him out of the house in December 2004 when she found out he had rekindled his relationship with Santiago.

According to Robeson, there is no physical evidence linking Barden to the rapes. She said by the time police learned of the sex, it was too late to collect any DNA and that the charges were based only on the victim’s statements.

Last week, the victim, a former Princeton Day School student, testified Barden came over sometime between May and June 2004 when her mother was not home, to "teach her about sex."

Her mother hadn’t learned about the alleged sex until 2005 when police were notified and Barden was arrested.

Barden was charged with five counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and two counts of third degree endangering the welfare of a child, Robeson said.

Barden remains free on bail.

Jury deliberation is slated for today, officials said.

The "baby mamas'" testimony is quite unbelievable.

The whole case is too sordid for words. Lock up the perp in perpetuity.

And sterilize defendant and witnesses as a favor to the gene pool.

Yes, he could have left to meet with the girl when the baby mamas were at work, but it's possible he didn't.

With no evidence he had sex with this girl, guess you have to be in the courtroom to hear her testify to decide.

bumping to check back later what the jury decides

I knew somebody who worked in a program for pregnant highschoolers, almost all black kids from the (tiny) local black neighborhood. At any given moment, there would usually be two girls in the class who were pregnant by the same man. That is, two teenagers, in some cases just 14 or so, pregnant by the same guy in his 30's. Who of course was never charged or made responsible in any way.

And these girls defended these guys. One of the teenagers decided to take the "baby daddy" to court for child support and two of the others (including one who had already had a child with this same man and was now pregnant again, by somebody else) threatened to kill her. And none of the other girls would even speak to her, because they said they felt she was being disloyal to him or turning against "a brother."

Until these girls change their attitudes about themselves and what their priorities in life are, and until they see themselves as individuals and not as things put on this earth to service stupid useless "brothers" just because they're black, things aren't going to change. It's amazing.

So, is this date, the one where he says he was babysitting his son, and the victim says he had sex with her, the only one that he is being tried for? Am I missing something, or isn't he on trial for 5 different counts? Do each of these 5 counts relate back to this one date?

This guy should be up on a bunch of charges, but he won't be. One of the things that prevents these guys from being charged is Planned Parenthood, since while other health or social work professionals have to report incidents of child abuse (such as the 12 year old being "trained" in sex by this man), PP and other abortionists do not. There have been many attempts to force them to report these things, but in almost every state, abortionists are exempted from virtually all reporting requirements.

The result is that there is vast tolerance among the authorities for the sexual abuse of children in black communities. And this gives these thugs and their victims the message that it's really okay.

This is a really sordid hard post to keep up with.

This man is 35 has no visible means of support and goes around having sex with kids. His two girlfriends make up lies to defend him in his dirty work.
It sounds like a zoo.

Castration would be a great punishment for this fellowe. Unfortunately some goody two shoes would object.

Why? It's not like she knew what was going on.

She probably said, look a pee pee.

Rape of a child is funny!

Anyone notice this little aspect? An 8 year old...suspended from school. I'm sure we can look forward to yet another productive member of society as he grows up. What is wrong with these people?

"Sometimes, she said, he was in Camden by 7:30 a.m. when she left for work"

Oh yeah, right.

The only way this guy would get his lazy a$$ to Camden by 7:30 a.m. is if he woke up in Camden.

35 years old, no job, gang member, donated sperm (I will not say "fathered") to at least two women, supposedly watching an 8-year-old who hasn't been to school in three years, "educating" 12-year-olds about sex.

Get this worthless child rapist off the streets and into prison. Even at $30,000 a year, we'll be money ahead.

I'm sure the "baby mama's" have been told what will happen if they don't defend him.

Mommas don't take "baby daddies" to court because the baby daddies can ask for shared custody. The mommas don't want that. They prefer a "pay as you go" policy where he baby daddy sends money now and again.

"His two girlfriends make up lies to defend him in his dirty work."

It has been my experience that with that crowd skin color trumps everything. EVERYTHING.

"What is wrong with these people?"

Ask Bill Cosby. He'll tell you, but sadly the ones who need to hear what he has to say aren't listening.

Yes it trumps everything until some black is successful on their own. This seems to upset them immensely.

If a black leaves the black mindset he is from then on not "One of them".
