Thanks, Deb, for your work today. Great info, as always. Those photos of Chad Watson were amazing! Thank you for pointing them out.

I looked online to read about him, and came a wonderful article from January 3rd. (This is the link: http://www.herald-review.com/articles/2007/01/03/news/local_news/1020214.txt ). It is a great article both about Chad and GWB!

"When President Bush entered Lance Cpl. Chad Watson's hospital room, the young Marine wanted to stand and shake his hand.

Just standing is quite a feat when you have just one leg and your foot is in a cast.

Supporting himself on a walker, Watson reached out his hand but immediately lost his balance and grabbed the walker.

"The second time I went off balance again," said Watson, 23. "My brother (Brandon) saw what I was trying to do and grabbed me under my arm. That stabilized me enough to shake the president's hand."

Surrounded by family members, Watson stood upright as a fellow Marine read his Purple Heart commendation, and the president pinned the medal on his blouse.

"It was all his upper body strength," said his father, Mike Watson. "There wasn't a dry eye in the house."

Then, the president said, "Lance Cpl. Watson, I command you to sit down."

"With a smile on his face, of course," Watson said.

Mike and Gina Watson said the president and first lady Laura Bush spent about 15 minutes with their family, which included Brandon, a Mount Zion High School sophomore, and Amy, a sophomore at Northern Illinois University. His other sister, Lindsey Damery, a nurse who helped Chad Watson tremendously while hospitalized, was unable to attend.

When Chad Watson asked the president if he had a few minutes to sign autographs for his siblings, he replied, "I'll sign all day for you."

A three-star general in the president's entourage told Chad Watson that he planned to tell the Marine commandant that a young Marine who was missing one leg, with the other injured, had made the effort to stand for the president.

"That is something I am most proud of," Chad Watson said. "

Chad's family also has a blog about his progress--there is an update about the event at the WH yesterday:http://chadmwatson.blogspot.com/index.html

He's in Kiss Me Kate.

We watched both the stage version and the old Howard Keel movie over Christmas break.

He's having the time of his life. Quite different than being a soldier. LOL!

(But I just compared him to Danny Kay and Bing Crosby in White Christmas, and he got a big kick out of that. :)

Oh........I meant to mention that a lot of the songs from "My Fair Lady" were very popular and were played on popular radio stations (back in the days when popular radio stations actually played MUSIC!).

'I Could Have Danced All Night,' 'I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face,' 'On the Street Where You Live' and 'Get Me to the Church on Time' were four of them. I knew them all very well before I ever saw the movie.

That's neat that she's in it. It's a fun musical.

I just read your rant this morning, and you have NOTHING to apologize for, Mo.

You were right on target.

I'm sure you've considered the irony of cigar-smoking, golf-playing, work-when-you-feel-like-it. say-whatever-you-want-with-no-risk talker Rush accusing the life-risking, decision-making, poll-ignoring, world-leading doer President Bush a 'wuss.'

I was angry when I heard him say it, but at the same time I laughed at this do-nothing big mouth calling a courageous leader a 'wuss.'

Talking heads are NOTHING. And it has taken this level of absurdity to make me realize it.

Thank you both so much for your additions to Chad Watson's story.

I blubbered through this article, remembering that his mom had told me that he insisted on standing for his C-i-C. He has unbelievable courage and determination! God Bless him.

Do we still have any use or respect for any pundit?
I'm still on my news black out for the large part and I shut off the radio months ago. I'm thinking Hugh Hewitt is the best one.

It just made me realize what a WASTE of TIME listening to that big blowhard is! I switched to the local Catholic channel and vowed I won't make THAT mistake again!

Other than making tons of money bloviating on radio, I don't think he really accomplishes anything at all, and I am convinced his knowledge of politics is pretty lame.

Bah. I spent quite a bit of time this morning cleaning and organizing, while listening to classical music. Those pundits don't know it yet, but as far as I am concerned they have killed the goose who laid the golden egg. They probably still get listeners from the disgruntled grump section of the party, but the rest of us are moving on (FOX ARE YOU LISTENING?).
