I have a real sword. It is a hand forged Scottish Basket Hilted Claymore. It is honed to a razor edge. It can bend over 50 degrees ( as much as I dare) and snap back as straight as a light beam.

A real sword is a fearsome weapon but most people treat them as jokes. If this kid was using a crappy cast bladed pseudo sword, and was untrained, you can imagine the damage that can be done with a real sword in the hands of someone who knows how to use one.

I am curious on the kind of blade he used, from a forensic poinit of view. To use a sword to kill and cut, you have to be really quite dedicated to follow through. I wonder what had set this untrained kid off to be able to actually do it. I am sure there is a lot more to this story.

Was the international student boffing Mom or something?

They say it was a "sword that's several feet in length. Something you'd probably see in an ancient knight type movie or something like that.” " according to the stories here

Of course if somebody is coming at you with a sword he is immediately seven feet tall and the sword ten feet long. Later you are surprised by how they shrunk. :)

Still even if it was a three foot with a bit of an edge you could still do a lot of damage if you had the element of surprise on your side.
