SAN FRANCISCO -- In the midst of an election year, Mayor Gavin Newsom's campaign manager Alex Tourk has announced that he will step down from his post.

SFGate.com reported Tourk resigned after confronting Newsom for allegedly having an affair with his wife, Ruby Rippey-Tourk.

The admission from Rippey-Turke came as part of a rehabilitation program she has been undergoing for substance abuse, according to sources to the paper.

Newsom refused to comment on the report, according to NBC11.

Rippey-Tourk, 34, was the mayor's appointments secretary at the beginning of his administration in 2004. She worked for the mayor until the spring of 2006, according to the paper.

"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the Newsom campaigns and the city of San Francisco and its residents," Tourk said in a statement.

I will tell her you asked about her. Santa Rosa must be nice, and I had a friend who lived there until he went to New Zealand.

If we move, we're *moving*. Out of CA.

Newsom is actually a notorious womanizer. Accusing him of being gay is a dog that won't hunt -- he makes Bill Clinton look gay.

Thank you!.... As an SF resident, I can say we're not all gay. Say what you will about the city politics, but it's a beautiful city

He has a 20 year-old blonde Republican girlfriend... I know because I live here... The big scandal a few months ago was she was seen drinking at the opera. It is possible to be the the biggest gay supporting politician in the state - and still be a womanizing straight man. Newsom is the proof.

I don't think he's with the blonde repub underage chick anymore.

He is a p-hound. Seriously, most thin cute women that want him are bagging him.

Okay, why did Newsom apologize? Did he feel he did something wrong? Isn't polyamory just another "alternative lifestyle"? Why not just have the four of them enter into a polygamous marriage?

I agree, that she loved to work "under" him. He must have "came" at the right time.

I'll bet there was a lot of Rippey-tourk being generated.
