Ok, round two. Lincoln had two choices : let the South have it's "state rights" or keep the newly formed Union one. He did what he had to do to preserve the Union. He suspended Habeus Corpus-SO WHAT! This is the 1860's. He freed the slaves because he realized that you couldn't have one area of the country doing it's own thing because a house divide can not stand. Maybe you would have liked the South to prevail, I wouldn't have because the South could not have survived economically without the North's industry.

Don't forget that during this time most of the educated and productive resided in the North. In the North the culture was more modern and more cosmopolitan. It was also shown that the mass majority of the South was uneducated and ignorant. The few landowners and bankers and elites(military officers) that had slaves and benefited the most were just about the most human capital that came out of the South. Lincoln did what real leaders do. He did what he though was right and a Southern rebel assasinated him for it. Their is a lot of romantacizm coming from the South but with its slavery and it's narrow agricultural economy it was bound for death anyways.

If Lincoln is so bad who is your model president?

I would like to take a moment and congratulate you. I honestly don't believe I've ever seen so much stupid and so many stereotypes crammed into one post. Ever. There's not even a place to start to respond to that. Talk about revisionism. Wait a minute....Wlat is that you?!?

KingArthur305, your Republican masters must be proud, but you'll have to a better job defending them.
