Since the dust has settled after the Sony PS3 launch last November I started to feel that the Sony PS3 did not deliver on Sony's promises. For me the only good points right now are the Blu-ray drive and that the games look neat in HD, but game play is not that much different from playing PS2 games.
The pressure on Sony is mounting to deliver games that are leveraging the magic powers of the CELL CPU. Several negative Sony PS3 reports appeared over the last couple of days that put their finger in different PS3 wounds. See examples of negative Sony PS3 headlines below.

We were lucky enough to happen upon one in Target just 2 days after Christmas. I'm a mom, I don't do games but WOW this thing is a blast. We are all having so much fun with it, we can actually play things as a family.
It's just so innovative as far as video games go. They actually work up a sweat playing some of the games and we laugh and they are so interactive that it is well worth the $$ IMO. I see PS3's all the time in our stores now just sitting there unsold, I'm guessing that after the initial hype most figured they just weren't worth the hefty price tag.
Aw, excellent. You get like 300 pixels per pixel.
If you go with Sony you are committed to building a BluRay video library which some consider a next generation Betamax, plus the player is integral to the PS3. The 360 however uses an external HD DVD drive format, if the drive has a problem you need not replace an expensive game console.
There is on the horizon dual capable HD players but honestly I would go with the HD DVD format. And just a bit of side info the porn industry has scorned the Bluray in favor of the HD DVD format, and that is a lot of influence believe it or not.
I agree that the better games like Halo, Gears of War and others are presently made for the 360. Sony has gotten a lame horse with the PS3 unless they can produce a lot of true next generation games.
If the PS3 falls behind its going to help kill Blu Ray IMO. HD-DVD will already have the advantage of being backward compatable with all the old DVDs (unless that has changed), and its the name....everyone has DVD ingrained in their brains now. Its only natural..especially since HD and DVD will appear on the disc while blu ray sounds like some freaky Japanese anime. Don't laugh, most of the country aren't tech junkies and have no clue. I am still amazed at the numbers of people who have glazed eyes when you explain what wireless internet is.
I went out and bought a P/S2 cause they were cheap and I was interested in a couple of games they had which weren't on a PC format.None of the consoles can compare to Pc games, which can be patched and modified. You can even convert them using the same engine and now they have it where you can download the whole game without having to go to the store which I think is great.I downloaded F.E.A.R a couple of weeks ago and want to get the mission pack, which is another thing that's rare with a console.
Once programmers figure out their way around the PS3 better graphics will come out.
I should hope so.
By-the-way, I totally zone out when my son starts saying, for example:
"Hey, Mom I got to the 5th level and beat the boss because I bought Xariean's lariot"...my reply "That's good baby".... my thought "what the hell is he talking about"
The PS3 has a built in blu-ray player and Wi-Fi. The 360 has HD-DVD and wireless add-ons, but they bring the cost of the 360 up to the PS3. I bought the PS3 for the blu-ray since stand alone players were over $1000. I've only played one game on the PS3, and I've never played a 360 game, so I can't comment on game quality. I'm sure the 360 has far more good games out now, but I'm sure the PS3 will catch up in time.
I'm a PC gamer only but my son got a Wii and he's been having a blast with it. Along with every one of his HS buddies. Interesting to see if it will be a passing fad or turn into the future of gaming.
We just got a Wii and it is fun!!!!! My kids really like the Wii, but it is a great family game. It's also not as expensive as the the PS3.
Here's a funny link to a video about the PS3 vs the Wii:

FWIW... Blu-ray has pulled even with HD DVD and is outpacing it in terms of sales. Also the porn thing turned out to be much ado about nothing as there is porn available in Blu-ray.
My 12 year old son and 10 year old daughters love the Wii.
We've had it for a few weeks, and they are having fun with it. My son loves Zelda, one daughter likes Raymand Rabbid Rabbits (?), and my other daughter likes Wii sports. Hubby and I are liking the Wii sports.
Eh? Blu-ray players play DVD's too. People confuse the HD DVD/DVD combo discs for as being representative of all discs. Blu-ray could conceivably make BD/DVD discs but the cost of manufacture wouldn't be worth it.
I heard it was all subjective to the way the title was developed but I'm not intimitely familiar with the differences in their GPUs so my take on it ain't worth much.
When the dual-core and quad-core processors start hitting the market, none of these consoles will survive. There are photo-real games coming out for the DC/QC platforms that no console can touch.
You want the wii. Loads of fun. We have about 7 games for it and wii sports has everyone crazy especially tennis and bowling. We've played Madden football and it is a real charge to actually throw passes using the remote. I would suspect all the sports titles that will be made to take advantage of the wii motion controller are going to be fun, Can't wait for Major League Baseball and NHL Hockey.
No, there will just be another generation of consoles that cost less than a good video card for the PC platforms and they'll both keep chugging.
Right choice: Xbox 360 graphically is similar (some would say SUPERIOR in may ways to PS3), PS3 is WAy Expensive $$$$, (I think HD DVD will win the format wars), and I don't like Sony (arrogant, bad culture, inferior tech/quality) IMO. Mind you I dont have either, but I agre with you Wii and 360 are the way to go.
