Funny that he would choose a location in China (soon to be the world's number 1 carbon emitter), Brazil, and South Africa, as all of those countries are so called 'developing' countries and thus exempt from the Kyoto Protocol. I actually think the blowback against global warming is starting. Some politicians, and more importantly, some reknowned scientists are starting to come forward to question the lack of 'science' behind Gore and his band of hot airheads.

Some thoughts on this:

Gore says these concerts will be even bigger than the Live Aid concerts!! And we all remember how much good those concerts did, don't we? As with so many liberal and self-obsessed things, it isn't really about impact- it is about intention or the appearance of caring. I don't know if the USA paid any attention to the 20th Anniversary Live Aid concerts (I was in the UK and it was a hugh event that every media outlet fawned over) but they at least acknowledged (Geldoff, Bono) that much of the $ and food from the first one never made it to the people it was intended. The big goal of the anniversary concerts wasn't to raise money, but awareness. In other words, we can't be held accountable for actually having an impact.

I agree that China is indeed an odd place to hold this "SOS" concert. I'd kind of hate to be the first one standing in line for tickets in Tianeneman Square. Will they televise panoramic shots of crowd and surroundings Given the somewhat murky Chinese air (due to pollutants)? Will their be banners in the crowd proclaiming "Carbon (Regulation) Free!!"? Looks like they'll have to throw a whole lot of cheap, dirty coal on the fire to make enough electricity for this event. Also, China is a long, long flight for any of the noted performers )and one I'm content to never make again).

South Africa? Are they going to play Sun City? Better not let Little Steven know. Will Winnie Mandela's guards be providing security?

Also, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill? Tell me it ain't so...
