Oddly enough, USA Today had a front page story on the police getting high power weapons to face the threat from criminals having 'assault' weapons. Must be a coincidence.

HR 1022. The bill number is rather ironic.

It's not limited to 10 years?

Not surprising...........Hillary wants to ban all ammunition. She has stated that it's not right to ban guns. So what good are the guns? Does she really thing that people don't understand what she's up to?

In GCA '68 the government required that in almost all cases only dealers could send and receive firearms across state lines. This ended "mail order" sales of firearms by law abiding persons who are not licensed dealers. GCA '68 hits you even harder. Congress gave federal bureaucrats in Washington D.C., the power to decide what kinds of firearms you can own. The framers of GCA '68 borrowed an idea -- that certain firearms are "hunting weapons" -- from the Nazi Weapons Law (Section 21 and Section 32 of the Regulations, page 61 and page 73, respectively, of "Gun Control": Gateway to Tyranny). The equivalent U.S. term, "sporting purpose," was used to classify firearms. But it was not defined anywhere in GCA '68. Thus, bureaucrats were empowered to ban whole classes of firearms. They have, in fact, done so.

I hate to say it. But I predict we will have an 'episode' of a violent confrontation with some moron with an "assault weapon" against the public or police. The Dims will pounce it it as the reason this law needs to be in effect.

Again, using the blood of victims to further their leftist disarmament campaign.

I PRAY that I am wrong.

Like most laws, it is not limited to any time period.

The 10-year sunset of the prior AWB was added to get Bob Dole's support (without which it would not have passed at all).

There is no 10-year sunset clause on this one.

if this is the same bill i saw the other day, there isn't much left that will be legal. even the M1 carbines would be banned.

There's a slight chance that a lame duck moderate like President Bush might sign something like this. There's only a slight chance that Rudy Giuliani would NOT sign it into law.

Find it interesting they did not specify FN PS-90s, FN-57s or FS-2000's...

That's because, as typical ignorant, uninformed, arrogant politicians, they probably don't know about those yet. They're still hung up on AK's and SKS's.

They really want to do away with the reset button don't they? To all the parrots that keep saying that gun control is a dead issue all I can say is ESAD.
