I don't think that the Blue Dog Dems will vote for this. They know that if they do, the R's will take over again in 2008.

After they thoroughly decimate the civilian firearm market with bans like this they'll get greedier and scheme up elaborate registration schemes that lead to eventual attempts at confiscation in gradual increments. For now though I plan on buying much more ammunition before they target that as well. If I can't buy another "assault weapon" I'm going to make sure I can keeping shooting what I have.

"There is no 10-year sunset clause on this one."
Then what is Section 2 referring to?

The title of Section 2 mentions 10 years, but no part of the bill actually enacts or restores any sunset provision. Titles do not have legislative weight.

Bait and switch. You fell for the bait. The switch is failing to enact a sunset provision.

and how a 10lb WWII rifle made the list is stupidity squared

The lest knolwdgabe people are writing the legislation while advised by most left of left wingers. The lefties know how effective a handful of people armed with M1's can be. Its not "just an M-1".

It is a semi-automatic rifle that was used by the military so there is absolutely no way that the public can be trusted with one . The politicians view of you is that you can't be trusted to complete toilet training.

Because they go bang, they are of modern design & the politicians view you as being to stupid to complete toilet training without govt. supervision.

The members of both parties view themselves as your overlords & masters & make no mistake they are willing to send federal LEO's to make ccertain you understand that.

If you look back at the Clinton years and notice the pattern of how a lot of judges were giving a walk to a lot of hardened career criminals.

It made me think that they and their Democrat masters such as Janet "Bar-Be-Que" Reno were setting a stage for a nationwide gun grab while using these criminals to do their killing for them.

What next? Those loonies have the longest list of ways to spend the tax money than anyone sane and logical can keep up with.

It's not even two months into the new year, and I'm already sick to death of the whinin' and pulin' Rats.

forgive my ignorance but in Sec. 4 Paragraph B, does that mean there will be a "grandfather clause"? Can we keep what we already own?
'shall not apply to any firearm... ...which is otherwise lawfully possessed on the date of the enactment of this subparagraph.'

The usual gambit is:

1- Tell people they can keep what they already own.

2- After the next news shooting, tell people they have to be registered to help solve crimes but they can still keep them.

3- Now that they know where they are, tell people we're sorry, but they must be turned in for the safety of America.

The gun grabbers know that we won't register them all or turn them all in, but after step 3, we won't be able to buy ammo for them or take them out of hiding without risking felony arrest. At that stage, when there is nothing left to lose, might as well use them if someone knocks on the door because you're going to prison one way or the other. Also, at that stage, might as well have a machinegun also. The gun grabbers never think about unintended consequences.

Yes. You really, really need to study what happened in Finland for five months of 1918, how it happened, and why.

And, most particularly, what the result was.

The civil war was a catastrophe for Finland. In only a few months, about 30,000 Finns perished, less than a quarter of them on the battlefield, the rest in summary executions and in detention camps. These deaths amounted to about 1 percent of the total population of Finland. By comparison, the bloodiest war in the history of the United States, the Civil War, cost the lives of about 2 percent of the population, but that loss was spread out over four years.

Five Months in Finland, 1918

The Finnish *Civil War*/kansalaissota

*more* kansalaissota/ vapaussota, 1918

I hate to say it. But I predict we will have an 'episode' of a violent confrontation with some moron with an "assault weapon" against the public or police.

It happens every time new gun control is introduced. I starting to believe someone is financing these morons.
