Good point, we have a large Vietnamese population in Houston. I'm so glad there is no need for assimilation in this country.

Most Vietnamese I know at least try to speak English, some very well. I guess they're not as arrogant as our neighbors to the south.

This is discriminatory. Why isn't there a TAKS test in Vietnamese?
In my district there is a school for Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese-speaking students. From what I understand, they are usually fluent or very near it by the time they've spent a few years there. They also do a lot higher on most of the tests that many other elementary schools in the district.
Of course, their parents are closely involved in their education, and don't need the federal government telling them how to raise their kids.
Surely the whole parents being involved couldn't make a difference could it? Nah...we don't need the parents involved, we have the government.
