As a person who lives overseas part of the year, I can only see these polls as garbage. A lot of my neighbors in Thailand would respond negatively to American culture which they see as rap music, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson and others they feel are influencing this youth in a negative way. Most posters to this forum feel the same way as do I. However, they support democracy, rule of law and capitalism. They like individual Americans who are safe in their country. A poll showing 60% dislike of American culture is meaningless in this situation.

This is beyond the distortion of America in the world press such as BBC and CNN. If they were my only information source and if I swallowed their garbage, I would be intensely anti-American myself.

It's not hatred, it's envy.

I really don't care who hates us or why. My hatred of foreigners exceeds their hatred of me, God help me.

Seriously, this is why I never speak ill of the French or other Europeans.

I'll never forget a favor.

A student of mine spent the fall of 2006 in Montpelier.

He came back convinced that the French are the most wonderful people on the planet.

Being hated is no fun.

No, hating is no fun. Being hated is no fun only if you realize and care that you're hated.

This is all shades of the 1980s!

WOW!!

This is pure history repeating itself with the media whores attacking all that is the USA.

Just sub Bush for Reagan and Islam for the USSR and we have a perfect fit!

The most venom agains the USA if squarely headquartered in the AP in NY, the CNN distribution in Atlanta and all the other points of media brothels known as the MSM.

"It's because of their inferiority complex."

Nope.
It's the British that have had inferiority complex for decades, after watching the British Empire collapse, then being forced to watch in impotence as America rose to become the most powerful nation by far on the planet.

" Americans really hate not knowing why they're hated"

We do?
Since when?
I have to interest whatsoever in being liked by genocidal Islamic fascist vermin or retarded Euro-nuts for that matter. Being hated by Islamo-facist vermin makes it much easer to kill them animals.

"I could care less."

That, of course, is your prerogative. I, on the other hand, could NOT care less.

I came to this country from the UK in 1969, when I was 20 years old, and got permanent resident status through the admittedly imprudent stratagem of enlisting in the U.S. Army. I have never regreted if for one minute.

Let the global elites and the media-enslaved masses hate us. Their comtempt is a badge of honor. Their reign is almost over and they know it.

Stars and Stripes FOREVER!

Yes. Just see what happens to our image if/when another liberal becomes president. All of a sudden we'll be "loved" again, even if the liberal president bombs the poop out of Darfur. There won't be a peep of protest.

Being the greatest country in the history of the world gets one hated. Much of the resentment of America is simply envy at the astonishing progress America has made since 1776. From an unimportant backwater, it grew, as President John Adams foresaw, into "the leading country of the world." We get hated for being Number One. America gets hated for her liberal values: her relentless and candid advocacy of freedom and unabashed capitalism. Both have contributed to America's greatness as well as her prosperity. And both leave those on the defensive threatened either by freedom or prosperity or a combination of both. For these reasons, America will remain A Dangerous Nation. Its who we are.

Spot on. In fact, a Democrat President could bomb/kill Christians by the thousands while protecting their Islamist enemies right in Europe itself (without even making an attempt to get UN approval) and the Euros would enthusiastically cheer him on.

Actually, I could give an Effin crap if they hate me. The feeling is mutual. I feel about them as I feel about Marxist Dimocrats and all their puking Islamic pals.

I think there's a Bible Verse that fits our current situation well. I can't remember it exactly, but it pretty much says be proud when people hate you for doing the right thing.

These media people in the UK really frost me!

Well, that's probably more due to US isolationism in the WW1-2 era. It's kinda funny, really. The complaints of Britain and France, and the other Allies, tended to be that America was too unconcerned with international affairs. Because, y'know, America could change things for the better.

So, America goes out and DOES a bit of that, and, lo and behold! Europe's still bitching. It's quite funny when I talk to people who think America should've entered WW2 when France and Britain did, and who then complain, immediately after, that the US is too aggressive.
