'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' repeal eyed (story says even the Dem Congress might reject the repeal)
Washington Times ^

Democratic Rep. Martin T. Meehan yesterday said he will introduce legislation repealing the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy that allows homosexuals to serve in the armed forces.

Mr. Meehan said public opinion has changed since the policy began 14 years ago under the Clinton administration, and that allowing homosexuals to openly serve will help the military retain specialized members, including linguists fluent in Arabic.

A 2005 Government Accountability Office report says more than 10,000 members of the armed services, including 750 service members with specialties "critical" to the war on terror, have been discharged since the policy was implemented.

"It will still be an uphill climb," said Mr. Meehan of Massachusetts. "But the November election can only mean good things for my bill."

The bill, "Military Readiness Enhancement Act," has 109 co-sponsors, including three Republicans. Nonetheless, it faces opposition from many lawmakers, including House Armed Services Chairman Ike Skelton, Missouri Democrat.

"It's not going anywhere," said Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center for Military Readiness, a group that opposes allowing homosexuals to serve in the military.

"Even the Democrats I've talked to don't want to touch this bill. It's very straight-forward, people who are homosexual are not compatible with the military's standards of service."

This is the first relatively level-headed analysis I've seen on this topic. As most of us know, the GOP-Congress buried this law last year.

It's actually very uncertain how far it will go. Conservative Democrat Ike Skelton, who heads up the committee that is deciding this, the story says opposes this law.

While I haven't heard of sister legislation introduced in the Senate, I question its level of support there, too. For instance, Democratic Senator Jim Webb is on record as opposing the repeal. Many Dems, I'm sure, remember what happened when Bill Clinton played with this in the 1990s.

So a few months and we have the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell and the introduction of another so called assualt weapons ban.

The Dems are living in 1994 aren't they?

Maybe because they opened their mouths or yapped about being homosexual, that's why it's called DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL.

Duh...

They sure are. However, I found it a bit reassuring that there are those that feel this legislation is DOA. Whether they're right or not, we'll have to wait and see.

But the Dems are just a big waste of time.

Yes, the law should be repealed.

Replaced with "Ask, and if the answer is "Yes", show them the door".

The problem is I hate the f'ers and everything they stand for and to let them come out and openly express their faggotry is beyond comprehension. Like it or not any openly gay soldier has a bullseye on their chest in the Army. Faggotry is totally against good order and discipline and will not be dealt with lightly by soldiers.

Most Dems probably favor the repeal but just don't want to rock the boat on this relatively unimportant issue (to them).

Personally, I say leave it up to the brass, if that's possible.

Wow.. If I had thoughts like that swimming through my head I'd probably kill myself. Why does a gay soldier have a bullseye on his chest? You think many of the troops are that easily induced to commit murder/fratricide?

I feel like showering..

Personally, I think it should be repealed and replaced with a system of "Do ask, do tell, do dishonorably discharge."

How about this?

1. Repeal the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.
2. Require every member of the armed services to state, under penalty of perjury, whether or not they are a homosexual.
3. Process for immediate dismissal all those who answer 'yes.'
4. Ask all prospective member of the armed services the same question prior to induction.
5. Do not induct anyone who answers 'yes.'
6. Imprison anyone who is found to have lied for five years at hard labor with loss of all pay and any retirement.

I don't think that is what the people in favor of repealing DADT have in mind but it would be necessary.

Oh, nothing...

60 Minutes Embraces "Gay Patriot"
"60 Minutes correspondent Morley Safer did his best to make Colonel Steve Loomis out to be a sympathetic character....Loomis, 45 years old, was outed and ousted after Army Private Michael Burdette, 19, set a fire in Loomis' home in an attempt to destroy nude photos that Loomis had taken of him. They had a homosexual relationship together. Firefighters thought a loaded video camera discovered in the rubble might provide a clue to the identity of the arsonist. The tape, which included images of Loomis engaged in sexual acts with three other enlisted men, was turned over to the Army."

Yeah, that kind of behavior is just what we need in the military...

Rudy Giuliani supports allowing gays to serve in the Military. This view coincides precisely with his gay "rights" record.

Are homosexuals sane? Just because they function, after a fashion, in society, are their practices and obsessions the acts of a rational, mature human?

Everyone seems to want to skip over these facts, having been conditioned to be PC about the whole subject, and ignore the reasons behind their contempt of the perversion.
