Washington Times ^ | March 3, 2007 | Christina Bellantoni

Democratic leaders yesterday called for the "greening" of buildings on Capitol Hill, saying politicians have the responsibility to preserve the planet. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has led a charge to fight global warming, and other top Democrats wrote a letter to the chief administrative officer of the House asking him to embark on a "Green the Capitol" initiative. "The Capitol complex should lead the nation in preserving our planet for future generations," the Democrats wrote to Daniel P. Beard yesterday. The letter was signed by Mrs. Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland and Juanita Millender-McDonald of California, the chairman of the House Administration Committee.

deja vu.

The first thing reagan did when he got in office is turned up the thermostat and told them to get those solar panels off the roof.

They are making these claims as if the issue is settled. It's not. Washington DC's pollution isn't going to make or break the planet.

Wow, this is quickly devolving into a modern man-made religion isn't it? Soon they’ll be taking down the 10 commandments (they’re still in the Capital aren’t they?), and replace it with some rhetoric by Al Gore!

Nancy will put potted pachysandra on the window sills of her extra special, large, air-conditioned office.

Just throw some potted Chrysanthemium (-10sp) or a bunch of Mums into the Capitol rotundra ... or better yet, a bunch of Pot plants for the Dems to munch on or smoke (oooops, smoking is prohibited there) ... GEEZ !!!

You know, they may have a point.

If they bulldoze the place, think of all the CO2 that won't be released into the atmosphere.

However, I don't think that's what they had in mind.

OK. Bring in A LOT of thorny cactuses in pots, and put them in her office. the office would immediately become green, and with enough cactuses she would be crowded out. She would get a green office and we would get that noone will be there. Win-win.

Former Vice President Al Gore, whose film on global warming, "An Inconvenient Truth," won an Oscar, plans to testify on Capitol Hill this month and deliver hundreds of thousands of postcards he has collected from citizens demanding a climate-change bill.

I saw this little car once and when the doors were opened a bunch of clowns came pouring outta that baby. A bunch.

No kidding. I saw it.

As a first step both Houses of Congress should immediately switch to composting toilets...basically like the out houses of yore. Copies of the Congressional Record could be recycled as toilet paper.

--politicians have the responsibility to preserve the planet--

Translation: politicians are above all deities, and they own the planet. How refreshing! What joy, to be reminded of this "truth"...

This is completely retarded. I'd like to build some momentum for reduced need for oil in order to stick it to the oil-rich muzzies, but these libfreaks alienate every thinking person from conservation and alternative fuels by casting it as cure for global warming. *SHUT UP*!!!

Capitol Hill has always been a "green" beacon. As in Long Green.
