Amazon? Cool, I will check them out. Never had a problem with them, got all my textbooks from their site.
Before deciding be sure to look at Canon printers.
I have a Canon printer and it's great!
Very true. If the checker doesn't do enough sales, their reviews are less than stellar, resulting in no pay raise, up to loss of job. Happens with phone support too. I wish that the large corporations would realize we hate this.
What crooks! The old bait and switch scheme. I'll never purchase anything at Best Buy.
Possible but if that were the case, the salesperson's first reaction to a customer's query about the anomaly should have been to check the internet site and compare.
Not, "Nope, the sale's over."
I just checked, and both Circuit City and Best Buy have the online purchase option with in-store pickup. You need to select which store and they indicate if the item is in stock before purchasing.
Alot of these companies are scam artists when it comes to rebates. I've had problems with Home Depot rebates and MicroCenter as well. Finally got them all but it took A LOT of effort on my part.
When you know you are dealing with scoundrels, you just have out wit them.
Be careful...I got taken by a Best Buy salesperson lying to me about the coverage of their "extended warranty". Had he been honest I would never have bought the policy because it was absolutely useless to me. The store's general manager was standing next to him when he told that lie so I have to assume it's corporate policy to encourage or at least condone lying to make a sale.
If you look at the fine print pamphlet covering those warranties I think they actually call it an "extended service plan" or some such thing. A friend of mine who used to work there told me that was because a "warranty" is defined by law in most states as giving certain rights to the customer and by calling it something else they can avoid the letter of those laws and not have to live up to what a "warranty" would have to cover.
Stories to curl your hair.
So this is how the Best Buy giant put CompUSA , a reputable store, out of business?

That was un-called for.
You do realize that there is practically nothing that can be shoplifted between the checkout register and the door at a Best Buy? Don't you?
I agree on that as well. I had a BJC-3000 for years. Bought an Epson C62 at Staples to replace it 2 years ago. The Epson sucked so bad but I put up with it until I got my money's worh...sold it on eBay...then bought the HP C4180 and am soooo happy with it.
It does everything. And does it well. Except for one thing;
I have never found another printer that will shut down power after a minute of inactivity like my Canon. I still have the Canon and use it occasionally. Nice unit.
I was told that the Kodak wasn't coming out until sometime this month. I keep forgetting to look up Consumer Reports on the item, however the ink cartridges are half the price of any other brand.
After all the trouble I've had with HP, I don't know whether I'd buy anything from them again. Price is a big issue as well. The kodak machine costs between 150-300 bucks, and both my printer and scanner are dead.
I've never had a Canon printer. I need both a printer and a scanner, and although I didn't use the ones I had that often, when I do need them, I need them. I'm on a strict budget. I've seen some excellent all in one machines that fax, print, and scan, but I can't afford them. Hope I don't need to replace the hard drive and the CD drive :(
Download a MS utility called "delpart.exe". Put it on a floppy and keep it in a safe place. It is an invaluable tool. Tiny but potent.
I've had good luck with Walgreens, Ace Hardware, and CompUSA on rebates. When I've had to call their customer service, their attitude was "We're sorry, how can we help you resolve this?" And, they did.
My worst experience was with TigerDirect, which offers huge rebate discounts on computer supplies.
Made a mistake on my rebate form, forgot to sign and date it, and it was an absolute stonewall trying to get through to the rebate center, to see if I could resolve it. Put on hold for 40 minutes, then cut off, would not answer e-mails. But, the day of the rebate deadline, boy, they were right on time. "You did not complete your rebate properly."
They lost my business forever, and there was an article on MSN awhile back with similar complaints against them.
I got my C4180 at Staples for $119 and it had a $20 rebate. It was an introductory promo because the C41xx series was new at the time.
I know several other people who have the C41xx series units and they report no problems with them.
I was reluctant to buy HP at first because I did have many problems with their stuff in the past (HP Pavilion PCs....YUCK!) but their consumer electronics division has undergone a lot of changes in the past couple of years and seemingly for the better.
As for pricing of carts...try online at "www.4inkjets.com" or "www.ldproducts.com". their prices, even with shipping, are far less than most.
