RUDY: SHE'S NO EVIL STEPMOM; DEFENDS JUDI FROM HIS SON'S PARENT RAP (Judi's bitter divorce saga)
NY POST ^ | March 6, 2007 | GEOFF EARLE with Maggie Haberman

Posted on 03/06/2007 3:27:51 AM PST by Liz

Rudy Giuliani vigorously defended his wife, Judith, as the perfect stepmom just days after his son, Andrew, revealed he doesn't get along with her. "My wife, Judith, is a loving and caring mother and stepmother," Giuliani told reporters after a meeting with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and county sheriffs.....he stood foursquare behind his wife, whose highly public relationship with Giuliani began while he was still married to the mother of his two kids.

Andrew Giuliani bluntly disclosed.... "There's obviously a little problem that exists between me and his wife." Sources familiar with the difficult relationship between the Giuliani kids and their stepmom said it started deteriorating before the couple married June 2003, but went south quickly after the wedding.

Giuliani's kids had hoped to carve out time to spend with their dad alone as things got worse, but he opted against it, the sources said.

At the same time, Rudy was involved in the life of Judith's daughter, Whitney, and even spoke at her graduation from York Preparatory school in May 2004. Sources say Giuliani has not visited Andrew at Duke, and that his relations with Caroline also are strained....even worse than with his son. Before she wed Giuliani, Judith went through a bitter court fight with Bruce Nathan over who would have custody of their daughter. Her ex-husband filed court papers in 2001 that said his daughter ran away from her mother when she was 16 and voluntarily moved in with him during the time when her mother was regularly at Giuliani's side in public while he was trying to get a divorce from Hanover.

Balderdash

Here's some of the details leading to the divorce----which was reported in excruciating detail in NYC print and broadcast media.

Rudy threw himself into the Playboy "Sex is Everything" lifestyle, early-on as he searched for perfect extra-marital sex (while he was mayor, and while he was still married).

Within six months of being elected Mayor, Rudy's photo was splashed on the front page of the New York Daily News buying clothing for Christyne Lategano, his "mayoral aide" (that's kinda like being a WH intern but with New York-style kneepads).

Giuliani in heat was anything but subtle. He took girlfriend Lategano to baseball games WITH his kids, until his wife had had it----news pictures still exist of Lategano and the married Mayor in restaurants across the city (not having sex, though. That came after the photogs left, and in City Hall, no less, according to Hanover's own eyewitness report after a surprise visit to her husband's City Hall office).

Lategano may have been hot in a tight clinch, but she was widely disliked for her rank incompetence and arrogance. Giuliani finally dumped her for newer sexual thrills, but she got paid off for heating up the Mayor's libido with an apartment and a cushy city job, arranged when Rudy dumped his appointee and loyalist, liberal honcho, Fran Reiter, from the job so Lategano could run the city's Tourist and Visitor's Bureau at $250K a year.

By 1998, Rudy had a new mistress (now his wife) and apparently was in the throes of sexual Valhalla, getting sexually blitzed every chance he could as a busy big-city Mayor. He took his sexual plaything to a restaurant a few blocks from Gracie Mansion--so that his children and their friends would know about it. By 2000, Rudy's sex life was getting lots of newsplay. Married Rudy was squiring his mistress to city parades and other Mayoral public events. (As one astute FReeper noted---goodness, gracious, great balls of fire. The thrills just never let up for the gun-grabbing mayor.)

Rudy then called a press coonference to publicly announce his separation from his wife EXCEPT THAT HE HAD NOT BOTHERED TO TELL HANOVER BEFOREHAND. Nice guy. Rudy then publicly announced to the press his separation from his wife WITHOUT EVEN TELLING HANOVER. At the time, Rudy was taking his mistress---not his wife--- to cancer treatment sessions. He never bothered to tell his wife about his illness. Rudy then decided he could not live with his sex playmate out of his reach, and planned to bring his mistress into the Mayoral home (on the spurious claim that Hanover wasn't helping him through cancer treatments---an illness he had not even bothered to tell his wife about).

Rudy announced he wanted to "divide the mayoral home" in two, for his wife AND mistress---a transparent ploy to force his wife and children out into the streets. Hanover was forced to go to court to declare Gracie Mansion the marital home so as to exclude Rudy's sex playmate. The judge acquiesced to Hanover's plea.

Thwarted but not defeated, Rudy moved in with a happily civil unioned gay couple (apparently also in the throes of sexual blitz-dom), while his wife fended off his relentless efforts to ditch her. On Mother's day 2000, while still married, Rudy publicly paraded his mistress up and down Second Avenue for newspaper pictures. The evilness of this marital betrayal astonished even blase New Yorkers.

Giuliani's vendetta against his wife and children was still not sated. He cut the mother of his children's official security detail......but he provided government security to his mistress who had no {{ahem}} official duties unless you consider getting Rudy sexually blitzed to be an "official duty".

I grew up just outside the city, hated it and got out as soon as I could. Moved south and will never leave, I've been down here 20 years. While I will admit NYC is an exciting place, it is not the be all and end all of the world. The politics, attitude, the flash and all doesn't make most people all gaa gaa. I would take a tailgate party at Sanford Stadium over an expense paid week in NYC in a minute. Being Mayor of the "Greatest City in the world" doesn't mean alot to all people.

As the survivor of a bitter divorce, and the target of parental alienation, I must disagree with your statements. The only thing different between situations is that I never cheated or dated, and one of my grown kids introduced my boyfriend(common law husband in a couple of years)to me.

Perhaps Rudy was trying to protect his children by making as little fuss as possible. As for deviousness, all one has to do is look at the Clintons. Rudy ain't got nothing on them. Excuse the deliberate bad grammar.

Children almost always have a hard time adjusting when a parent remarries regarless of the circumstances of the divorce (or even in cases when a parent dies).

I can't speak for other conservatives, I would admire Bill Clinton if he dumped that bitch, Hillary. It would be great if he did it during her presidential campaign. She'll find a "First Lady" of her own anyway;-)

Donna Hanover opened her own office at Gracie Mansion on taxpayer funds and she appeared in "The Vagina Monologues" while she was the First Lady of New York City. She's no saint either.

"I can guarantee you he knew gay people and was friendly with gay people."

Yes, Reagan had gay friends. He was the first president to let a gay couple spend the night at the White House and opposed a Califoria referendum in 1978 which would have banned gays from teaching in schools. Rock Hudson's executor praised Reagan for being Hudson's friend on Larry King's show.
