Rush should never be in the Hall of Fame. Might as well put in 38 Special!!
How the Jefferson Airplane was ever inducted is a sham. One song is all they ever had. The rest of their music stinks!
You are comparing Rush to 38 Special with a straight face....why don't you share with us who should be inducted then?
Not Rush, thats for sure.
Talking about weak!
Might as well induct Styx. No matter who I think should be inducted you will immediatly say, "Oh they suck!" so I will not waste my time.
I am a fan of a lot of bands..you might be surprised...give me a few names...
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I also remember Scandal ('Goodbye To You'); they were played quite frequently on MTV back in the days when they weren't trying to Rock the Vote or teach women how to play tonsil hockey with each other.
ping
Yeah, "and music still on MTV," to quote Bowling for Soup.
They need to get a new acronym. "Music" it's not ...
You may not be a fan, but Rush deserves to get in. They have had hit albums for over thirty years now (2002's Vapor Trails debuted in the top 10, as did 1996's Test For Echo, 1993's Counterparts, etc.), with the same three guys (aside from the debut record). They have influenced a generation of bassists, heck musicians in general. They still sell out when they go on tour. Why shouldn't they get in?
The real shame is that Chicago (especially Terry Kath-era), Neil Diamond (not a hard rocker, but great entertainer and songwriter), and Carole "Tapestry" King are not in! Heck, Carole King influenced the Beatles, and they covered one of her songs on their *first* album.
Sigh. Then again, I'm the guy who also thinks Weird Al needs to get in, since the whole thing is a joke anyway.
Dead on all points...even Weird Al. He has sold more records and entertained more people than half of the jokes Jann has snuck in there.
Al is brilliant -- I knew it when he did the Star Wars episode one parody within a month of the film's release -- complete with video. Also, his "Pancreas" off the latest release is a sublime style parody that combines elements of "God Only Knows," "Good Vibrations," "Heroes and Villains," and other various bits from Brian Wilson's SMiLE. To top it off, he recently spent some time doing a public appearance at Fort Bragg.
But, because he does (intentional) comedy records, no one notices his success or talent.
His drummer Bermuda Schwartz has posted for over a decade on usenet in the drum newsgroups...real down to earth guy...talks on there nearly every day...very talented and will even leave backstage passes for you and free tickets if in your town.
Why would John Coltrane, Lee Morgan, or Eric Dolphy be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? They were jazz musicians, who never played that kind of music.
