Fort Carson Rally--Let's Support Our Troops! (vanity)

I support victory in the war against Islamofascism, and my disgust at the increasing efforts by Democrats to destroy the war effort have stirred me to action. On Saturday, April 7, 2007, I plan to hold a rally outside the main gate of Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO, to support our troops. Fort Carson's troops have been rotating in and out of Iraq and Afghanistan since the beginning of the war, so this is a good place to let them know how much we appreciate them.

I've had three professional-quality banners made that read, respectively, "Honk If You Support Victory", "God Bless Our Troops", and "FreeRepublic.com Supports Our Troops". I'll also have American flags available.

The rally will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and will be repeated every first Saturday of the month for the rest of 2007 (Colorado weather and my schedule permitting!).

Come for as long or short a time as you like, and help hold one of the banners or wave a flag! Even better, bring your own banner or sign and hold it high! You'll be delighted by the appreciation and gratitude of the troops, their families, and passers-by.

Ruin a Liberal's day--come out and support the troops!

Thank you!

Last year when I was there, there was one solitary man with a simple sign at the front gate with only two words on it: THANK YOU

Please spread the word about an appeal for redress that people in the military can sign to show support for the mission:

My nephew is stationed at Fort Carson. He has two Purple Hearts to his name and four pieces of shrapnel still in his back. They think they can get them out if work their way up a little. He told my brother that he wants to return to his unit and finish the tour with his tank. He got hit near Balad. Wish I could be with you folks to honor him and his buddies.

God bless your nephew! What a courageous and honorable man he is. I hope he sees us on the 7th, so he'll know how much he's appreciated.

I'm sorry you can't attend, but maybe one of the future rallies? (unless you're far away, that is! One of the things that inspired me to do this is my disappointment over not being able to go to DC to support JimRob and other FReepers who are participating in the Gathering of Eagles.)

God bless you. Wish you could have done it tomorrow. My best friend's son is stationed there and is ending his stint in the Army next week. He will be coming home. He had a tour in Iraq. Hope you get lots of help.

We've got a nephew serving at Ft. Collins. He returned from Iraq last fall.
I'll forward a link to this thread to him.
Our Lord's Blessings to you.

That is just wonderful. I'm having an additional sign made that says just that, and if I'm all by myself there it will still have an impact!

Thanks, American Quilter. I'll check my schedule and chat with my wife about it.

Off-topic -- my wife just started quilting, and loves it!

That would be great of you to come so far, if you can make it! The main gate is on Hwy 115.

Take I-25 south to the last Academy Blvd exit (it's the one after the Circle Drive exit) and go west about 1 mile to Hwy 115. Go south on 115 to the first stoplight and turn left--that's the main gate.

I'll be providing more specific directions and info about parking, etc., closer to the day. Hope to see you!

Hi everyone--I pinged you because your home page on FR indicates you may be within striking distance of Colorado Springs, or because I met you when JimRob was here last year, or--in one case--just because I thought you had a cool freepname! I hope you won't mind--I'm just getting the word out about the rally, and am hoping some of you might be able to make it. Please freepmail me if you're interested!
