DeLay absolves himself in his book
New York Times via Houston Chronicle ^ | 3-18-2007 | CARL HULSE

WASHINGTON — Tom DeLay, the fiery former House majority leader and longtime congressman from Sugar Land, knows why his party lost control of Congress last year. And he is not to blame. [snip]......

In typical take-no-prisoners fashion, DeLay, who left Congress last year after his indictment in Texas on charges related to campaign financing, lashes out at Newt Gingrich, the former speaker, and other fellow leaders of the 1994 Republican revolution. He criticizes the Republican leader of the ethics panel that admonished him, calls former President Clinton "slimy" and portrays leading Democrats as his evil liberal tormentors. [snip]......

"I consider George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Denny Hastert all to be good men," DeLay writes, "but there is not an articulate voice among them." [end snips]......

But, I repeatedly wrote to ask him why not one republican, including himself, took the option offered by the court to enter the entire Barrett Report into the Congressional record for all of America to see. (my question is ignored, of course) The democrats were successful in hiding 120 pages of that report dealing with Clinton's illegality from the public and republicans, including DeLay are aiding their effort. This brings me to two possible conclusions: 1. Once on Capitol Hill, everyone is in the same big club and the citizens can go to hell OR 2. Hillary has some bad enough stuff in the FBI files she stole to intimidate even Mr. DeLay.

I did the exact same thing!!!!! And, like you, I have never received a reply. DeLay had the opportunity to do something for the people of the US but deferred. Why??? I can do nothing but conclude that Tom DeLay is a three dollar bill just like the rest of them.

By the way, after the Barrett Report became final Senator Grassley promised he would have it released. But when push came to shove he, like all the other members of Congress, ran for the hills. He told Tony Snow repeatedly that he would have it released but ultimately used the old saw of saying, "well I'll have to speak to my attorney first." Why would you have to speak to your attorney first? The court had already ruled on how this Report could be published. Tony Snow was championing the release of the Barrett Report on his daily radio show but we lost his voice when he moved to the White House as Press Secretary.

Where can we go from here?

DeLay is a selfish wimp who chose to quit rather than fight. Piss on him.

What evidence do you have that he dyes his hair?

If I were a betting man I would place a bet that we will never in our lifetime ever see the full inredacted Barrett Report. Why not? Now there is a question that should be asked of Hillary in her very first debate by any candidate who faces her, It shoud be asked and asked again until we get an answer. Dont hold you breath though.

I will not base any judgement of mine on a Tom Delay trial.

I hvae seen the results of the Scooter Libby trial and have no faith in trials for fairness or Justice.

If the govt. sets out to screw you, guilty or innocent , you will be screwed.

This prosecutor is bought and paid for by the Democrat party and republicans with their silence and cowardice are aiding him and his other liberal rats.

"And if Tom DeLay is found guilty by a jury of his peers, to me that will be an example of the beauty of our system..."

I remember when they said that about Libby...

What reporter can we go to to ask such questions?

Why aren't the MSM interested in pursuing this?

Why didn't Rick Santorum or that embittered weasel Lincoln Chafee release the Barrett Report on their way out the door?

When the report was finalized many on these threads said that the Republicans were waiting until just prior to the 2006 elections for release for maximum effect. Well, we all know what happened (or didn't happen).

Outside of Mia T, I never see a reference to it anymore amongst our posters. What happened?

To me it is imperative that the Barrett Report be released. I believe that it will expose the sewer that the US Congress has become and bring a breath of fresh air to government.

Where can we go now to get this report released? Whom can we pursue to get action?

Any ideas anyone?

I think you just hit on why the report hasnt been released. The US Congress is a sewer and neither party can afford the fresh air. Both parties stink.

“What evidence do you have that he dyes his hair?”

1. My eyes. I don’t mean to be flippant, but it’s true. His hair does not harmonize with his skin tone. Since he dyes his hair, he should use an ash color rather than a golden (red) brown. It’s a home job he has. And if it isn’t, he should go to another beauty solon. But, my personal opinion, and it is strictly personal, men who dye their hair look pretty silly. It is just worse when they do a bad job of it. I cringe every time I see a photo of him.

2. He is 60 years old.

Congress is a fraternity of crooks. They wont rat each other out because they are frightened of being ratted out themselves.

No one in their right mind would collect and spend Milions of dollars to get a job that pays less than $200,000.
They all have ulterior motives for being in Congress and it doesnt all have to do with the perks and the goodies they reap.

What we need on the Hill is patriots and out of the House and Senate all I see are rich folks who speak of Patriotism but vote for Pork and political power.

You could very well be right. I think it is obvious that the report is explosive about both sides.

“An example would be Mary Matalin and her reptile hubby.”

No, no. Please don’t go there. When Mary Matalin or her reptile hubby gets a phone call at home involving work, the other leaves the room. They do not share work information.
