Giuliani Top Choice Among Both Moderate, Conservative Republicans

Not with this conservative Republican.

Well, he's number one with THIS conservative Republican because he can win the election and he has more experience than any candidate running in governing a city of millions and bringing it back from the depths of hell to make it a clean, safe place to live and work. The anti-Rudyites keep trying to distort his record, but most people can see through their bias. Go Rudy.

Rudy did some good stuff in NY. I'm sure he made some mistakes too, as he is a human being like the rest of us.

My issues with Rudy revolve around the social issues. . .

and his 'history'. If Rudy manages to get the nomination, there's a great deal of dirty laundry he's going to have to deal with. The Dems won't show the least bit of mercy, of course. I truly think that is what would cause Rudy to lose the general election.

If he does get the nomination, I would vote for him in the general election. But I do think he'll lose.

Rudy Giuliani will do a good job, at this stage in the game, of winning nominal support from moderate Democrats. The number of conservative Republicans he loses as a result of his liberalism will probably be less than the number of moderate Democrats he nominally "picks up".

What's going to happen when the Democrats start campaigning, though? If Rudy initially picks up three moderate Democrats for every two conservative Republicans he abandons, but then loses half of that new-found "support" once the Democrats enter the race, suddenly his leftward run won't seem like such a good idea. Of course, by then it will be too late to do anything about it.
