I am afraid the "American Street"," should it react the way you project- the way it should- will be fighting the police forces with their SWAT teams and all the AFTs and those military groups that train and aid the federal teams. I agree with that, but not his with his long term implications. I think within 6 months, all Muslims would be rounded up into containment camps or be subject to vigilante justice.

The moment it happened, the first act of the Rosie O'Donnells of the world would be to leap into action (well, okay, waddle into action) and condemn Christian fundamentalists because, you know, they're all the same.

The moment it happened, I'd feel absolutely murderous, and have a strong need to mete out justice personally. I don't think I'd have the patience to watch our eunuch politicians—on the right and left—stand around and point fingers and hold a bunch of how-could-this-have-happened? hearings.

911 horrified me, but I'll admit that it didn't touch a deep, personal place within me. The day one of these terrorists targets our children, there had better not be a mosque within a thousand miles of me. I'll leave at that, I suppose.
