***...Mr. Giuliani dispatched an aide to tell Yasser Arafat to leave a concert at Lincoln Center celebrating the 50th anniversary of the United Nations. I was no fan of Mr. Arafat, but he had an invitation from President Bill Clinton. Lincoln Center was not Mr. Giuliani's living room, and the mayor's action did nothing to advance progress in the Middle East....***

Both of these entities feel as though they are above everyone else. They are mini fiefdoms that operate in a feudal spirit. They each exhibit a lofty independence that nly liberal snobs and bureaucrats can bring to an institution.
Yu are correct in your assessment.
Rudy's biggest cheerleader.
Oh goody! Another "online" poll. Ping me when we can "freep" the ballot box. Otherwise, this is about as useful and the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice awards.
Not to raise a Technical point, but (I will not dignify the murderer with the title of Mr.) Arafat had an invitation to attend the UN from the UN; not from Bill Clinton. Im not sure that Arafat was a guest of Bill Clinton or not, but Rudys objection was that a known terrorist is not allowed to walk the streets of NYC. Arafat was the head of an organization that was declared a Terrorist organization by our very own Bill Clinton State Department.
Given all of the above, Rudy was 110% correct in his actions. As further proof of his correctness, the liberals and all of the hand-wringers in the administration and the Lamestream media backed down when he showed backbone in a press conference and re-stated his position. This was in 1995 long before he showed his continuing leadership in 9/11.
He is nto fit to be president, he is far to liberal.
I had to check the photo properties to determine who it was.
"Giuliani looks more and more like conservatives' 80% friend."
LOL.
Let's see:
- Agrees with the brady bunch on gun control
- Agrees with NARAL on abortion
- Supports Sanctuary City policies and mccain / kennedy amnesty bill
- Agrees with mccain / Feingold CFR
- Supports "hate crime" laws
- Global warming supporter
Which of those are on the conservative side?
Oh wait, he's talked tough on the WOT. No actual military or foreign policy experience.
And he's a tax cutter, but only for the tax cuts he likes.
The rudyboosters are delusional if they think he's rudy's a friend to the conservative. If he's anybody's 80% friend, it's the liberals, since he fights for their policies.
VERY well said!
Article sounds like a bunch of liberal girly-men whining about anyone who actually seems to have a pair and stacking a poll so they can write their propaganda pieces and say: "see? ....see??!!" as if they're relevant.
Rudy got it done.
Just off the top of my head:
Giuliani despises abortion.
Giuliani questions environmentalists that warming is man-made.
Giulaini understands the 2nd Amendment
Do you really just believe what you just posted?
> Giuliani despises abortion.
Yet he thinks Roe V wade is good constitutional law, praises margaret "eugenics" sanger, and fights for public funding of abortion.
Here's a clue: Even (declared) liberals say they despise abortion when they're running for president - they just don't want to stop it.
>Giuliani questions environmentalists that warming is man-made.
Yet he says we aren't doing enough about it. He said that just a few seconds after "questioning" whethere it is man made.
> Giulaini understands the 2nd Amendment
Every liberal says that before they try to ban guns. Rudy adopts all the positions of the brady bunch - wants to ban "assult weapons", wants to register and license all gun owners, wants restrictions on handgun ownership, filed suit against gun makers and dealers just like the brady bunch, etc etc etc. His saying he now "understands" the 2nd amendment is just talk. His record on guns is as bad as any liberal and it belies his phony campaign talk about "understanding" the 2nd amendment.
I almost feel bad for you rudy boosters. The contortions you must go through to support this liberal would attack the conscience of most people with conservative principles.
If you want the perfect candidate, you aren't going to find him in a field of politicians.
If you want a king that can decree all you want, you aren't going to find him in our government.
If you want to deny LIBERALS their appointments to the Supreme Court, you can't back a loser for the 2008 presidential election.
You people outside NY have no idea what it took to govern NYC in the early 90's. The place was a disaster and headed for the ultimate collapse. Comparing it to Rome in the final days would be completely unfair to Rome.
In addition, he had a complete dim council, a not all to cooperative state government and governor and a bunch of complete morons running the city. The fact that he got the squeegee guys off the street in his first week was a miracle.
Then he merged NY's three separate huge police forces, housing, transit and PD. The pols were trying to do this for 50 years. He got the internet integrated into city business. He kicked the mob out of the garbage bus and cut city garbage rates by over 80 percent. He kicked the mob out of the Fulton fish market. In a sign of defiance they burned the place down.
The list of his accomplishments is barely known by those inside NYC let alone outside NYC. Welfare roles were by cut over 60 percent. The list goes on and on. So you ideologues out there, stop worrying about things that no president is going to ever change and start thinking about how this country needs to be run.
I'm for his candidacy.
Then let's see what shakes out. I know you'll be against the Democrats when the general election comes in Nov. 2008.
Best Regards.
Great spectator viewing when the liberals fight it out for their boy Rudy against the ultra-liberals.
