You know, I'm not the conspiracy type. But, rat poison in pet food...salmonella in peanut butter...

Thing that make you go hmmmm....

"I know I am stretching, but could this be terrorist related? Maybe they wanted to show how easy it would be to hurt the human food supply?"

Part of my preparedness method is that I buy most of my food including cat food on a long term rotation basis based on shelf life.

The canned chili I eat today has been in the pantry from 6 months to a year or even two, even my cat food is bought up to three or six months before consumption.

Your post made me realize that an added benefit of my shopping habits is that before I use a product, it has already been on the market long enough for any problems to show up.

Use to be a veterinarian assistant, rat poison is highly toxic to animals, however knowing the actual cause of the poison can help in determining the best course of treatment to give. You would be surprised the # of animals that come in contact with it in normal circumstances. Especially cats that like to eat the mice and can get in almost any place to actually eat the poison.

Its despicable.

The individuals responsible should be punished. Probably some disgruntled employees in the plant or some plain sickos.

People who committ acts of brutality towards animals frequently graduate to people. And hunting isn't an act of brutality - this is.

"Wanna bet its an Islamo Link? They HATE pets of any kind, especially DOGS...."

The leftists support America's enemies in all that they do to harm people in America, but the minute the Islamofascists dare to "terrorize" or "murder" animals, look out!

I agree, PETA freaks are top of the list of suspects. They oppose all pets. They euthanize all the pets that are left in their care.

Maybe the target wasn't animals.

I wonder where else that wheat goes.

WE should send THEM wheat with saltpeter in it.

Doesn't rat poison cause death by internal bleeding?

Bingo. Terrorism!

Wonder if we'll ignore it studiously until 3,000 Americans are killed.

So was the wheat meant only for pet foods?

More likely that a shipping container that was used for poison was later used for transporting an ingredient in the pet food. If true, this would be a violation of the law for human food--don't know about pet food.

If it's the same stuff they give in much smaller doses to people, like in Coumadin, yes.
