Update on dad. They managed to make him more comfortable doing something called I think flatulence tubing which helped dissipate the wind in his stomach and assist the bowel in working. He is still not completely cleared out but is much more comfortable.
There is still some arguing amongst the various medical teams as to which problem to deal with first the stomach or the broken limbs. At present medical is winning as the anesthetist does not want to put him under until the stomach is much flatter and therefore more room in the chest cavity for breathing.
He is back on food so unlikely he will be operated on tomorrow. So I suspect they want to get his bowels working with normal food and drink etc over the weekend to probably think of operating on Monday. I think we will know more when the surgical team visits him today(tomorrow) which could mean another night visit as the doctors were constantly visiting him during the night yesterday.

RE: Congressional Gold Medal
***
One idiot news "reporter" tonight said that all these airmen received the Congressional Medal of Honor [which is actually awarded by the President] today. Anyone reporting on the doings of our national politicians who does not know the difference probably reports a whole lot of other news wrongly on a daily basis.
Beautiful photos, snugs
The Childrens Miracle Network is an International fundraising effort for childrens hospitals, generally one in every city. The fundraising activities go on all year and culminate in a huge telethon on a Sunday in June. Each hospital does local programming during the day, asking for funds, and network hosts broadcast to all the local stations at intervals.
These children have probably been on TV in their own cities talking about their particular challenges with disease or defect or injury.
