:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Ahmadinejad Vows News Soon on Atomic Work
-Full Story-

Iran's president promised on Sunday Iranians would soon hear more news about the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, which the West believes is a covert effort to build atomic bombs despite Tehran's denials.

"The Iranian nation will soon hear fresh news about our country's nuclear transition," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted by the official IRNA news agency as saying.

He did not give details about any announcements or when the news would be released but Ahmadinejad is due to hold a news conference on Tuesday.

OPINION: So many people are WILLFULLY ignorant.
Ignorance is not bliss.

Eventually, people will wake up to the fact that ignorance is not bliss.
If they don’t wake up in time; they may find themselves in a world they
could never of imagined — and it won’t be to their liking.
By then, it will be too late.

Philippines: Jihadists behead seven Christians, deliver heads to military

“Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks...” (Qur’an 47:4)

“Severed heads delivered to military,” from Agence France-Presse, with thanks to all who sent this in:

Al-Qaeda-linked extremists ordered civilians to deliver the severed heads of seven Christians to military outposts in the southern Philippine island of Jolo, the army said today.

The six road workers and a fisherman were kidnapped in separate incidents on Monday by the Abu Sayyaf extremist group amid a military operation against the Muslim movement.

Yesterday afternoon, the driver of a commuter minibus was flagged down and ordered to deliver a sack containing two heads to a military outpost in Parang town.

A few hours later the other five heads turned up at an outpost in Indanan, said regional military spokesman Major Eugene Batara, after being delivered by local residents in another sack.

“We don’t know where the bodies are but the operations against the Abu Sayyaf will continue,’’ Maj Batara said....

Abu Sayyaf commander Al Bader Parad, who seized the seven men, had earlier demanded a ransom of five million pesos ($125,000) for the hostages but the local government had said it could not pay it....

More than 8000 troops are on the island with orders from President Gloria Arroyo to crush the Abu Sayyaf.

The group has been blamed for a series of bomb attacks in the Philippines in recent years as well as high-profile kidnappings of Christians, foreigners and missionaries.

“Turkish Christians Tortured Before Murder”

“Slain evangelists were tortured, says Turkish doctor”
April 20, 2007

(REUTERS)

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “MALATYA, Turkey — Three Protestants murdered at a Christian publishing house in Malatya, Turkey, were tortured for three hours before their assailants slit their throats, a press report said Friday, quoting one of the doctors involved in the grisly case.

Dr. Murat Ugras, a spokesman for the Turgut Ozal Medical center, told the daily Hurriyet of hospital surgeons’ fruitless efforts to save Ugur Yuksel, one of the three victims of the massacre at the Zirve (summit) publishing house, which distributed Christian literature.

“He had scores of knife cuts on his thighs, his testicles, his rectum, and his back,” Ugras said. “His fingers were sliced to the bone.

“It is obvious that these wounds had been inflicted to torture him,” he said.

The two others who were killed, Necati Aydin, pastor of Malatya’s tiny Protestant community, and German Tilmann Geske, a Malatya resident with his wife and three children since 2003, were also tortured, press reports said.

The abuse lasted for three hours as the five men detained at the crime scene interrogated the three on their missionary activities, they said.

“We tied their hands and feet and later gagged them,” the mass daily Sabah quoted one of the suspects as telling police. “Emre slit their throats,” said the youth, who was not named, referring to Emre Gunaydin, the alleged leader of the gang, who is at the same hospital in serious condition after jumping out of the publishers’ third floor office in a bid to flee police. “

Coalition Forces Kill, Capture Terrorists; Car Bomb Kills Iraqis

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, April 20, 2007 – Coalition forces killed 10 terrorists and detained 42 in operations throughout Iraq today, and a car bomb detonated in Baghdad yesterday, killing five Iraqis and wounding 10, military officials reported.

Near Mahmudiyah, coalition forces detained eight suspected terrorists today. Another raid uncovered a building containing seven tanks of chlorine, which coalition forces destroyed.

Seven armed terrorists were killed after they fired upon coalition forces who were entering a building today. Forces on the scene detained 15 suspected terrorists who are allegedly tied to al Qaeda in Iraq.

One armed terrorist was killed today when coalition forces entered a building in Baghdad to conduct an operation to disrupt the Baghdad car bomb network. Six suspected terrorists were detained, and coalition forces found car bomb components in the building.

Another operation in Baghdad netted two individuals with suspected ties to the Baghdad IED network. Near Mosul, coalition forces detained 10 suspected terrorists in two separate operations to disrupt the al Qaeda network in northern Iraq.

“Terrorists continue to endanger the Iraqi people and security forces by using explosives, and we will continue to disrupt their networks across the country,” said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, Multinational Force Iraq spokesman.

In another operation, Multinational Division Baghdad soldiers killed two insurgents in a firefight after coming under small-arms fire from a mosque in a southwestern Baghdad neighborhood today.

Additional soldiers arrived to assist the element from the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, after gunshots came from the site of the Husayniayh al-Bayaa Mosque. Aviation support also arrived at the scene of the fighting and fired about 100 rounds of 30 mm ammunition. There was no collateral damage to civilians or the mosque.
After two insurgents were killed in the incident, soldiers searched nearby buildings and found chemicals in a house believed to be bomb-making materials. One suspect was detained from the search.

Iraqi army troops from the 1st Battalion, 1st Regiment, 2nd
Iraqi Army Division, entered the mosque at about 2:30 p.m. No other suspects or weaponry was uncovered from this search. No U.S. troops entered the mosque.

In Baghdad yesterday, a car bomb detonated in the Rusafa security district, killing five Iraqi civilians and wounding 10 others.

Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, reported hearing an explosion at about 1:30 p.m. while occupying a combat outpost in the Karadah Peninsula area. The unit quickly sent a patrol to the site and reported five Iraqi civilians killed and 10 wounded.

Iraqi army and Iraqi police quickly responded and took over security of the site. This attack came the day after four car bombs struck the Iraqi capital April 18, killing 150 Iraqi civilians and wounding more than 200 others.

(Compiled from Multinational Corps Iraq news releases.)

“Ex-Miss America shoots thief’s tires”

Posted: April 20, 2007

© 2007 WorldNetDaily.com

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Tough isn’t a word necessarily associated with Miss America, but three thieves arrested after their truck tires were shot out by 82-year-old Venus Ramey might beg to differ.

Ramey, who won the elite beauty crown in 1944, confronted one of the three robbers on her farm in Waynesburg, Ky., about 140 miles south of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

“He was probably wetting his pants,” said Ramey, who balanced on her walking stick as she pulled out a snub-nosed .38-caliber handgun.”
