ARTICLE SNIPPET: “CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - President Chavez said Friday his government wants to develop short-range missiles to defend the country’s airspace and purchase other arms to safeguard Venezuela from foreign attack.

The leftist leader, who has repeatedly accused America of planning to invade his oil-rich nation, said Venezuela had test fired missiles on Thursday but it was not clear what kind of projectiles he was referring to.”

According to Venezuelan reports, Russia has signed military deals worth some 3 billion dollars with Venezuela.
