TALLAHASSEE, Florida (CNN) -- Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told CNN Wednesday he supports public funding for some abortions, a position he advocated as mayor and one that will likely put the GOP presidential candidate at odds with social conservatives in his party.
"Ultimately, it's a constitutional right, and therefore if it's a constitutional right, ultimately, even if you do it on a state by state basis, you have to make sure people are protected," Giuliani said in an interview with CNN's Dana Bash in Florida's capital city.

Giuliani also vowed to appoint conservative judges to the bench, though denied such a promise was a "wink and a nod" to conservatives in support of overturning Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court decision on abortion.
"A strict constructionist judge can come to either conclusion about Roe against Wade," he said. "They can look at it and say, 'Wrongly decided thirty years ago, whatever it is, we'll over turn it.' [Or] they can look at it and say, 'It has been the law for this period of time, therefore we are going to respect the precedent.' Conservatives can come to that conclusion as well. I would leave it up to them. I would not have a litmus test on that."

Well, it's my choice not to pay for the killing of a child. I wouldn't pay for my own child to have an abortion, why should I pay for the stupidity or carelessness of others?

A) He implemented gay marriage using his executive power, even though there is still no law or constitutional provision authorizing it. The justices of the peace were told they would be fired if they didn't perform gay marriages.
B) His executive departments were completely gay friendly, and putting out the radical gay line.
C) The judges he appointed to the bench were overwhelmingly pro-abortion.

Supporting 7th month fetal brain vacuuming, objections (especially fundamental objections!) to 24-hour abortion waiting periods, and rejection not merely of the purest pro-life stance, but of the tenets of gradualism in the reduction of abortion, do not seem like positions from which a supposed conservative should EVER have been negotiating, even when running for election in left-wing "paradise". You are putting me in an uncomfortable position. Defending Clinton is like trying to pull out an infected tooth. Critisizing the President is even more painfull. I love the President Bush. I couldnt stand Clinton for his dishonestly and misguided ways.
But Clinton was not a “big government” President. Wellfare reform. Pro economic growth.
President Bush on the other hand makes Lyndon Johnson look like fiscal moderate.
And, since RINO Rudy is brazenly in favor of child-killing and essentially rubbing in the faces of social conservatives, it's time for him and GOP to find out what it is like to lose millions of votes and see what that does to their election chances.

I was willing to support Rudy because of his leadership in spite of his pro-choice leaning. But this is too much. Not only is he disregarding the value of life, but he is confusing “Constitutional Rights” of the individual with government’s obligation to fund it.

No, you're not or you wouldn't support someone in a primary that wants to use your tax dollars to kill unborn children and has openly just stated he won't nominate judges that will overturn Roe.
And, ANY Republican candidate will cut taxes and defend the nation. Those are the ONLY two issues RINO Rudy is conservative on and there is no reason to abandon every other issue and support someone so radically liberal on multiple issues when a real conservative can do cut taxes and fight the war on terror.
When people like you vote for RINOs like this, it's impossible for conservatism to prevail.
