The Family-Friendly Easter Bomb Hunt (WAPo Assists Moonbats Again) - DC Chapter To Counter 4/9/07
Washington Post - The Insurgents' Best Friend in the USA ^ | Friday, April 6, 2007 | Sue Anne Pressley Montes

Posted on 04/06/2007 9:07:26 AM PDT by tgslTakoma

Seven-year-old Alvin Mitchell worked intently yesterday on what looked to be a blue balloon wrapped around a tennis ball. It was a fake version of a cluster bomb, and the real thing, he pronounced, can "blow you up and kill you."

The fake bombs Alvin and a dozen other children were making at a peace workshop will be put to use Monday in Lafayette Square. As hundreds attend the White House Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn, a smaller group will gather at the park on the north side for what is being billed as a "family-friendly Easter cluster-bomb hunt."

*

"Obviously, we're trying to spoof a little bit what will be happening on the South Lawn," said Brian Hennessey of the Vineeta Foundation, a local human rights group founded in 1995 that is the lead sponsor of the cluster-bomb hunt. "We're not trying to hit kids over the head with this; we want them to have fun."

*

"This is supposed to be funny," he said about the hunt. "We're not trying to be confrontational. We're not going to be in anyone's face. People are welcome to reject what we say or think about it."

*

Other peace groups, such as Code Pink and the Coalition for Justice and Accountability, came onboard.

*

The event, which runs from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., the same hours as the White House Easter Egg Roll, will include a search for weapons of mass destruction for the adults.

*

A hulk of a large bomb will be filled with toy bombs, and a prize will be given to whoever guesses the number inside.

*The adults told the children they could write their names on the "bombs" and take them home after Monday's event.

If it is a “misdirection ploy” the joke is on the moonbats.

This just gives us another visible event to show our Support of our Troops and their Mission.

I’ll be there with sign and flag in hand.

Eagles Up!!

This has to be one of the sickest things I’ve ever seen. Good luck with them!

If the Moonbats don't show, we'll have the location to ourselves; and we can unfurl our US and Service flags without fear of being molested by any peace thugs.

Oh, and Freeper Va Flag Waver donated a brand new 3' x 5' flag/banner to the DC Chapter that shows all the military branches' emblems and reads, "We Support Our Troops." So, I'm going down to the workshop in a few minutes to build a PVC frame for it. We'll have a good time letting all the families at the real White House Easter Egg Roll know that we stand behind our troops and their mission.

:-)

Mr. T, don't forget to bring your USMC flag. With that one, we'll have the USMC, the US Army and Navy (Navy Jack) flags. (I still have a few more service flags to get, to make our collection complete.)

Now all we need are committed Freepers and Friends to help us hold them.

:-)

It’ll be there.

I have a lot of extra 3/4” pvc sections. We’ll have to coordinate next time to save some $$$$

The “Vinetta Foundation” is such a big deal there’s NO response to an inquiry at Google.

DC Fox5 News just did a report on Brian Hennessey and the Vineeta Foundation's Cluster Bomb hunt. It's not canceled. The peace thugs floated the "cancellation" story to get us to not show up.

Never trust a lefty to tell the truth about anything.

So, if you're in DC, or nearby, and have a few free hours to stand out in the cold with us, dress warm and come on down!

Eagles UP !!

You need to point out the IRONY and the IDIOCY of the Left.

They had Children making BOMBS.

They want Children to hunt for BOMBS.

They want Children to play with BOMBS.

And They want those BOMBS here in America for our children.

concretebob:

I don’t mean the draft as it was during the VietNam era. I mean 100% across the board no-deferments mandatory 2 years minimum military service. Share the wealth and bounty of living in the greatest country ever known, share the sacrifice. If all young folks coming of age knew this was the law of the land, as in Israel for example, it would eventually become a point of pride, as it once was back when.

A draft is a draft is a draft.
It's MANDANTORY service.
Then or now, Same Same.

I repeat
The all volunteer military we currently have WORKS JUST FINE.
We get the young people that WANT to serve our country and understand the sacrifices required.
The men and women currently serving I have spoken to all say, NO DRAFT.
That question is the very first one I ask.

May as well tell the wind it blows.

Or as a wise man once said:

Never teach a pig to sing...It wastes your time
and annoys the pig.

Now, in fairness, I agree that there should be some sort of requirement for mandatory service.
The OPTION of military service should be a part of that.
Whether it's planting trees, cleaning streets, working in a shelter, or whatever.
The incentive would be a grant for tuition, in addition to fair pay for work performed.
Both of my children were required to complete 200 hours of community service prior to graduation from high school.
My daughter chose to go the rescue squad route, in a small community rescue squad out in the boonies, that seriously needed volunteers.
I forget what my son did, but I didn't really care, he already had a full academic scholarship to William & Mary.

I hate to keep responding like this, but I'll log off and think of something else.
You used Israel as an example, and it is a FINE example of pride in country.
The difference between us and Israel is this:
Israel is a relatively new country, compared to the United States.
I work with a young man from Israel who explained the sense of pride ALL Israelis have.
Our youngsters have been pampered and spoiled and have no idea what it feels like to NOT have a sense of identity.
But even Israel gives it's youngsters the option of doing something besides military service, but they do have to train with the military, because all Israelis are part of the Homeland Defense and most every family in Israel has an Uzi stashed somewhere.

Yea, it was good yesterday. We had a lot of people come up and thank us for being out there. The MOAB was placed between the bomb roll and the White House so we ruined their photo ops. Or at least the photo ops after 9AM. Kristinn also gave several interviews. Don’t want to give away any more.

An AAR is in the writing (Not by me) but I’m not sure when it will be ready.
