I just read an article earlier today (don’t remember which one) that said Imus said he voted Republican. I have no clue whether that’s a lie or not.
Also, anyone who thinks this new atmosphere isn’t bad, just read Hillary’s Secret War. FR is mentioned as are other conservative web sites. It’s going to be ugly.
They're going to try to paint him as right wing as cover for his inexcusable behavior.
Imus came out supporting Kerry last election. And against the swift boat vets IIRC. (maybe I’m thinking BOR on the latter)
Imus is a registered Republican in NYC. He’s against the Iran war, though, I believe, under the influence of his yenta wife.
Hilary needs to sweep the airways since radio is the only place where criticism of her is heard.
She’ll have Fineman, Alter, Jeff Greenfield, and all the butt-boys Imus gave air-time to and whose books he promoted, giving their oh, so reasoned and measured support.
This was a political hit. There was no groundswell on this Rutgers thing. It was too spontaneous way after the fact.
And yes, the “Fairness Doctrine” — you know, the free speech gag that says it ain’t fair when listeners don’t support Air America or the Mario Cuomo Show so we gonna dog Conservative talk shows off the air — will be a reality before Hillary’s dainty boots hit the campaign trail.
Gramsci is alive and running the DNC.
