That one is a bit of a surprise. How can a guy next to nobody knows outside the NYC metro area have such an impact?

I’m saving those numbers for myself. I want to buy the other side of the sq mile section I live in. I want the option of driving out either road.

Well, it seems a whole lot more Republicans agree with me, that’s why Giuliani is leading in all the polls.

You mean post 42 I assume. I saw it the first time. It is a statement from the Giuliani campaign that says the campain consults with many people and has spoken with Bolton and Keane.

You claimed in post 12 that "BTW — in case someone missed it, John Bolton is advising Rudy. That shows Rudy’s approach to foreign policy. Maybe he’ll name Bolton SecDef or Sec of State and let the Dems and the world cringe. and in post 27 you stated "The fact that he is “advising” him is a de-facto endorsement."

I'll ask again, is John Bolton an official advisor to the Giuliani campaign and is this a "de facto" endorsement of Giuliani?

Frankly, I think Guiliani is leading the polls, because Fred Thompson isn’t a declared candidate. When he is ,those numbers will change quickly.

There are a large number of lefties here on FR as sleepers posting to disrupt and divide every election campaign cycle while pretending to be “Conservatives” the rest of the time

Writing style, phrases, wording, other details make it fairly simple for anyone with military background to spot them

A high percentage now posting on FR threads are radical democrats and socialists and outright Commies that also post at DU, LP, and at leftie blogs -

Some are no longer here under previous screen names - some had dups &/or have new screen names

When you read these FR threads look for certain keywords and clues telling everyone just how “Conservative” and “purist-Reagan” they are

And some will - and some have stated they would rather vote for or see Hillary or Edwards or O’Bomber or Edwards elected and serving eight years to “teach Republicans” and so “all Americasns will get fed up with democrats and we will then take back Congress and the White House”

Of course Slick Willie and Hillary and their thugs never gave us Waco, cut our military, “wagged the dog” in Bosnia, wiped out 85% of all honest legal gun dealers (but not me Hillary!!!), gave us Monicagate, killed Vince Foster and others with their hit squads, was impeached!!!, sold out to the Chi-Coms, looted the WH art, furniture and left cheap copies of priceless original Frederick Remington bronzes from the turn of the century period (some valued at over $20 million each by collectors!), blackmailed/extorted ruined drug companies, attempted to take over 15% of America’s GNP with illegal HillaryScare, flooded the CIA, Pentagon, State Dept., federal courts, military with “fire-proof” leftwing career lifers -

Be skeptical of every comment or post or reply at FR and elsewhere

Not that I would know anything about this

Moby is alive and well and laughing at you

Rudy has a list of accomplishments as a mayor and as a Reagan Administration official.

Fred Thompson is known as an actor.

What did Fred Thompson actually accomplish in his political, as opposed to acting, career? Did he do anything in the Senate?

I’m not attacking Fred; I just don’t see anything substantive. If he has a long list of impressive accomplishments I’d like to see them.

As an actor he’s a heavyweight. As a POTUS candidate he is IMHO a flyweight.

You are absolutely right on all counts!

What is amazing, is how some real conservatives are so naive, that they are taken in by this divide and conquer Democrat strategy.

They did the same in 2006 election and it’s going to get worse, as we get closer to 2008 elections.

Here is an article prior to the 2006 elections, which noted it:

“The premise follows a scheme previously found most often on talk radio programs: a liberal activist calls a conservative radio host, such as Rush Limbaugh or Laura Ingraham, and delivers the line: “I’ve been voting Republican for 30 years, but I’ve finally had it and I’m not voting this year.” Or my favorite: “I’m a Reagan Republican, but I’m fed up and voting for John Kerry.” (Because that is what Reagan Republicans would do, vote for John Kerry.) At this point, the host usually asks a couple of questions and it becomes painfully obvious that the supposed Reagan Republican has probably never voted for anyone right of Michael Dukakis.

The intentions are clear: the caller hopes to make it appear as though there is already a large uprising of conservatives who are rebelling against GOP candidates, and thus, wishes to incite other Republicans to pick up the same attitude and pass it along, leading to the Democrat becoming more competitive. The successes of such a strategy on voting habits are unclear, especially given that the conservative radio host often refutes the caller’s talking points.

But the pretend-conservative act is being carried onto a whole new playing field, one that has become wildly influential over the past few years and one that does not stand to be instantly recognized as a fake. That playing field is the blogosphere, which is then used in conjunction with massive e-mailings to “spread the word” (as one e-mailer insisted I do to my readers/e-mail list) to other conservatives.

The concept is the same: the blog or e-mail claims, first, that the said writer has been a conservative for years and that they have “had it with Republicans.” They then point to an issue that conservatives would likely be upset about such as excessive spending, immigration, or the expansion of government. Their supposed rage over the issue has convinced them to either not show up to vote in 2006, or, in order to really show Republicans, vote for the Democrat instead. “

There must be affirmative reasons to vote for the nominee.

read post 83. there are the reasons to vote for rudy.

as for the thompson/hunter/gingrich/conservative to be named later crowd, all I ever hear is rudy stinks and the conservative to be named later is not Rudy.

“There must be affirmative reasons to vote for the nominee”

The “reasons” in post 83 are not reasons, but a list of his accomplishments in New York, on a very micro level. By reasons, I mean that members of the Republican base, for whom the right to life and the Second Amendment are the most important issues, have to believe that Rudy is better than the Democrat on these issues. Those are two major issues to Republican base voters and they do not equate with trimming the welfare rolls or reducing crime in New York. You are dreaming if you think that the Republican base is going to equate two such issues with local improvements to the quality of life in New York.

On the other hand, Fred Thompson appears to be just as strong in the War on Terror and he does not split the party. I do not buy the invective that he is lazy or not bright. I heard the same canards hurled at Reagan. Rudy will not be able to make up with Democrat votes the votes he loses from his own party. Thompson, on the other hand, is a skillful communicator with a very appealing peersonality who can broaden the Republican base to include the same Reagan Democrats, Second Amendment, prolife, conservative Catholics, that were so essential to Reagan’s 2 victories and to Bush’s reelection in 2004.

We were into this years ago in the service

Cyphers, codes, simple substitutions, pre-arranged letters

Catching the enemies communications and their propaganda and also using media and communications to intercept and mess up the enemy with many types of false information

It’s much easier to spot today using software or even search methods on the internet

For example Free Republic and any posted comment there

These are not exactly geniuses that are involved in seminar tricks

Some are professional journalists and party hacks

Look what they did from Chucky Schumer’s own Senate office and government computers to Steele’s personal confidential informaton

What in the world? People honestly think he should run for this at the age of 84?
