"According to a new CBS News poll, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) continues to lead the Democratic presidential field, garnering 39% of the vote. Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) comes in second with 24% and former Sen. John Edwards (D-NC) places third with 21%.
"On the Republican side, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) continues to enjoy a comfortable lead over the pack with 47% of the vote. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) trail with 25% and 10%, respectively."
This poll is a three way matchup, but including a "none" choice. Here is a question about other candiadates getting into the race:
q21 What other Republican would you like to see run? REP. PRIMARY VOTERS WHO WANT MORE CHOICES % Fred Thompson 11 Newt Gingrich 8 George H.W. Bush (former president) 2 Ralph Nader 2 Condoleezza Rice 2 Other 13 DK/NA 62
Looks like Obama may have to start looking over his shoulder.
(((RUDY PING))))
She will be almost impossible to stop on her way to the WH.
National polls this early don’t mean very much. Polls in early primary states are much more meaningful at this stage.
q21 What other Republican would you like to see run?
REP. PRIMARY VOTERS WHO WANT MORE CHOICES
%
Fred Thompson 11
Newt Gingrich 8
George H.W. Bush (former president) 2
Ralph Nader 2
Condoleezza Rice 2
Other 13
DK/NA 62
Ralph Nader????? So they had a sample of idiots did they?
“She will be almost impossible to stop on her way to the WH.”
Why do you think the MSM keeps publishing articles about Giuliani to rile up conservatives, certainly not because the MSM cares about conservative valures — it’s because the MSM and the Democrats have a vested interest to make sure RG is NOT the Republican nominee, because he is the only one who can beat her.
That is true, and one a couple of days ago had Giuliani at 27%, although I think that one allowed for more choices.
I was listening to a pollster on larry kudlow’s radio show yesterday - his opinion was the the republican “brand name” is so badly damaged in Ohio, that he doesn’t think any republican candidate can win Ohio in 2008.
It certainly looks that way at this point.
It’s interesting, when the choice is Rudy, McCain or Neither, RG gets 52%, McC 29%, and Neither 13%.
RG breaking 50% is a very good sign. Most Republicans understand the stakes and that Giuliani is the leader we need in these critical times.
This is not peacetime utopia, where any president will do, as long as he looks presidential, we need a real fighter in the White House, who will stand up to the “world opinion”, and deal with Iran and the terrorists.
BTW — in case someone missed it, John Bolton is advising Rudy. That shows Rudy’s approach to foreign policy. Maybe he’ll name Bolton SecDef or Sec of State and let the Dems and the world cringe.
You have one poll where Rudy has pulled ahead of McCain in SC. Other than that, McCain is right with Rudy in Iowa and NH.
How has the witch been polling in Ohio? Is she liked? That is a frightening thought.
I am hoping Bolton endorses Rudy.
There can never now be success in Iraq...because even if there is true success, our own people don't think it was worth it...and never will.
This has crushed Republicans and conservatives to the point that the only chance the Republicans have is to nominate a celebrity who also seen as "not conservative."
More interesting internals:
RG has 60% favorability rating among R primary voters, with only 10% negative. What is even more interesting that after another month of Rudy bashing, his favorability rating is UP from a month ago: 48% in March to 60% in April, and his unfavorability rating is down from 12% to 10%.
The Rudy bashing just doesn’t get traction — that’s why he will win the Republican nomination and can also beat Hillary.
BINGO!!
The Rudy bashing just doesnt get traction ...
I think the Rudy bashing actually is getting more votes for Rudy. It makes him an outsider who thinks for himself and tells it like it is.
