More on the all-important meeting between Olmert and Abbas.

Israel backs U.S. plan to arm pro-Abbas forces

By Aluf Benn and Avi Issacharoff, Haaretz Correspondent

Diplomatic sources on Sunday said Israel supports the implementation of the Dayton plan for the training and arming of the Palestinian Presidential Guard, loyal to Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

They made the statement following a meeting between Abbas and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Sunday.

However, Palestinian sources described the meeting as fruitless.

At the meeting, the Palestinian delegation relayed the details of the plan the Palestinian Authority had devised with the assistance of Lieutenant-General Keith Dayton, the U.S. security coordinator to the PA.

The sources said Dayton had procured a $59-million budget for two main objectives. The first of these is reinforcement of the Presidential Guard with additional weapons, ammunition, equipment, training and funds. The second is to secure the Palestinian side of the Karni Crossing, which is the lifeline of the economy in the Gaza Strip.

Uncle, if you have Fluff & Folly playing at your back, you just heard Ms. Hasselbeck say that, in their heated conversations on “The View”, the truth comes out.

LOLOLOL.

” Uncle, if you have Fluff & Folly playing at your back “

I guess I’ve perfected the art of mentally ‘tuning out’ F&F — missed that completely.....

Saudis continue to boycott Israel
By MICHAEL FREUND

Despite a promise made to Washington nearly 18 months ago to drop its trade embargo against Israel, Saudi Arabia continues to enforce the Arab League boycott, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

In November 2005, Riyadh pledged to abandon the boycott after Washington conditioned Saudi Arabia’s entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) on such a move. A month later, on December 11, Saudi Arabia was granted WTO membership.

Who is teaching our children?
Terrorists. That’s who.

Former Detroit schools administrator faces terrorism trial Bradenton Herald

DETROIT - Ask friends and associates of Kifah Jayyousi to describe the former Detroit schools administrator, and they’ll use words like “nice” and “respected,” totally opposite of how federal prosecutors are expected to portray him in a high-profile terrorism trial starting next week in Miami.

Prosecutors say Jayyousi, who obtained advanced engineering degrees from Wayne State University and taught there, helped create a North American network that recruited, bankrolled and equipped Islamic extremists to fight overseas.

You’ll like this one.

UK Home Raids to Recover Parking Debt
The United Kingdom continues its march toward police-state socialism.

The UK parliament is considering legislation that would authorize bailiffs to break into the homes of motorists accused of not paying parking tickets.

Under legislation currently making its way through the House of Commons, bailiffs would seize items out of the home in order to pay off the amount owed in tickets, plus hefty fees. Any homeowner that attempting (sic) to stop the bailiff would face up to a year in prison.

” Some would try to argue the Patriot Act pushed some of that along “

One of the ‘selling point’ rationales for the Patriot Act, way back in the beginning, was that it ‘merely’ adapted tactics from the “War on Drugs” (sic) to a new theatre.

My misgiving about the Patriot Act at the time (and still) stems from the fact that those same powers will eventually devolve to President Hillary - she of “enemies list” and “FBI files” notoriety...

There’s no such thing as “a little bit totalitarian”.....

To: Uncle Ike; All

Rain isn’t always drops of water.
I’ve always had scary experiences with stray bullets falling from the sky.

A night of heavy rain and high winds last week knocked down the antenna through which I get my internet connection. The tower (actually it’s a 6 meter-long metal pipe with a makeshift base of rusty bars) was hanging between the roof and the back yard and the antenna itself was smashed when it hit a wall.
Yesterday I went out and got a new antenna and in the afternoon I was preparing to put things back together and this part is what I particularly hate; it means that I should spend one or two hours on the exposed rooftop.

The chance for being hit with one of those falling bullets is of course small and takes a bad coincidence of time and place but for some reason our rooftop seems to be a bullet magnet that I collect an average of 3 bullets every week or ten days not counting the ones that fall in the garden and end up buried in the dirt.
