Agree 100%. Virginia Tech administration and police carry a lot of blood on their hands. I cannot believe how stupid and careless they are. They should go to jail.

Good grief folks! This is ridiculous!! These people were dealing with an extremely fast moving situation. You cannot possible expect people to have ALL the answers, or even all the pertinent QUESTIONS in such a short time.

I haven't seen anything in this situation that would argue for anyone to go to jail, especially if the actual killer is dead. Please cut the authorities some slack here; they're dealing with the murders of at least 31 people who they considered their college family.

Well, so far the story seems to be “Asian” and “girlfriend.” Maybe that’s all there is to it. But there are a lot of Asian Muslims out there, although so far I haven’t heard about any terrorist activities by them in this country.

What worries me is that the FBI has a perfect record of covering up almost every incident of domestic terrorism or Sudden Jihad Syndrome in this country. I think the odds are against that being what happened in this instance, but I’d like to see some news reports before the FBI has time to do a full coverup.

Cool. Gonzo testimony cancelled! Now, if they cancelled him protocol suggests he can cancel them next time. So I think he bought himself another 90 days.

I'd rather Homeland Security and intel and fbi do their jobs thoroughly and completely before the MSM does what it usually does in cases like this.

I can see not trusting the MSM, but do you really think that the others you listed are any more interested in the truth getting out?

Isn’t there a Holocaust Remembrance in April, as in this past weekend? There was something in our lib paper.

What if they had eyewitnesses reporting the gunman drove off the campus at a high rate of speed?

Indeed. Don't waste a lot of time with reactionary pronouncements lacking thoughtfulness. You'll be a very busy poster.

Obviously an instant campus-wide lockdown on a 2600 acre campus would not have been reasonable for a single incident in which two people were shot. However, given the many benefits of rumor control, and the fact that the perp was still uncaught and unidentified, there’s really no excuse for it having taken over 2 hours to even get a brief advisory e-mail out to the entire university community WITH A RACE/GENDER/SIZE/CLOTHING description of the shooter. Had it gone out in a timely manner, it’s quite likely that reactions would have been different from the students who reporting hearing shots and thinking at first that it was probably construction noise, and the students in the classroom where the largest massacre occurred after the shooter had first “peeked into” the classroom at least twice.

Immediate campus-wide lockdown was not indicated, but immediate campus-wide state of heightened vigilance certainly was and wouldn’t have been hard to put in place.

Has anyone noticed that all the tv interviews are of people/students that aren’t first person witnesses. With 40 or 50 people shot, you’d think they could find people who actually saw the shootings.

To CBS and Couric's credit, they just televised a powerful interview with a student wearing a sling on his right arm...describing the ordeal....how he used his tennis shoe to gain traction on the linoleum floor to keep the classroom door barricaded...while the shooter pumps slugs into the wood...while his arm was bleeding...and dialing 911 with his left hand.

Helleva brave young man.

The first shooting occurred 2 hours before the second shooting where the big massacre took place. They should have closed the campus after the first shooting, period.

It’s after 6:00 est and police say they have been unable to id the shooter yet. I don’t buy it.

Again, that would strongly suggest the shooter was not recognized by witnesses and the shooter possibly had no connection to the campus.

I base this on the fact that no ID of the shooter has been leaked or reported by any legitimate sources as of yet.

They are now reporting he shot himself in the back of the head, which would likely disfigure his face and ID.

But the fact remains, there had to be dozens of witnesses to the events prior to him putting a bullet in his head.

That does strike me as odd, now that you mention it.

FOR THE RECORD, THIS IS NOT THE WORST MASS MURDER THAT HAS OCCURED!

The worst occurred in Bath Township, Michigan, on May 18 1927 when then school board member Andrew Kehoe first killed his wife that morning then blew up the school house killing 45 people, most of whom were children from second to sixth grade and injured 58 others............

The only point I'm trying to make here is that any argument in favor of gun control has just been nullified.......

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To our prohibitionists, -- bombs/explosives/guns; -- all are weapons that MUST be banned..
Bet on it.
The shut down could have been done within 30 minutes at maximum after the first shooting.
I'll knock it off it you will submit that there are, and will always be a small percentage of responsible, 21 year old college students that should be able to practice their constitutional rights to self defense by carrying CCW on college classrooms/buildings. Writing CCW on campus off as such, that all students are irresponsible is, IMHO, irresponsible.
? That isn't the issue. If SF was king every one of these "21 year old college" students would have already been in the military. The issue is banning a 3 year member because he disagreed with the status norm. If you would like to see 21 year old with guns....swing over to LA, the gang bangers will give you a fine lesson on irresponsible juveniles with guns.....
For the few on campus that could and will own guns.....pfff......not allowed. Save you speeches for those that that don't know better....
