Oh, dear Lord, 22 dead and 28 wounded. It’s almost unbelievable! Prayers up for families and wounded.

My point is, if you are 21 you have a right to drink alcahol, but you cannot go to class with alchahol, you cannot go into sports games with alcahol. I have no problem with someone having the right to carry, but in college class rooms isn’t the place.

Disgusting opportunists...

Yep. This may be that landmark event that the antigun zealots have been hoping for - our own version of Dunblane on which they can build a hyperemotional campaign to enact something, anything, quick before anyone can think it over. The media pressure is going to be as intense on the issue as anything we've ever experienced. It will happen, they've been waiting for it.

I’m in college and I would feel incredibly uncomfortable going to class surrounded my random people with firearms.

My FRiend, I bet you are already surrounded by random people w/firearms. Many people, w/and w/o permits, are not going to let themselves become victims because someone thinks that criminals are going to stop engaging in criminal activity just because it's a gun-free zone.

There's a saying, 'Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.'Many people, including many women, see the truth in that saying and will not let anti-constitutionalists determine their personal safety.

As a matter of fact, I can't recall a single case where school shooters had been thwarted by armed civilians -- even though some of those shootings have occurred in places where personal firearms ownership is common.

I can think of several: Paducah, KY, that law school in NY, outside that courthouse in TX, and that's in about 30 seconds of thinking.

I don't know where you went to college, but my professors didn't even wake up until 6 or 7AM. I don't think my comment was naive at all.

THe point is, the professor wakes up in the student's bed.

Maybe a littel naive.

Cheers . . .

school shooters have been thwarted by armed civilians. Pretty rare because armed civilians not allowed in schools. One case in Virginia I know about, but news reports hid the fact about it being an armed civilian that took out the shooter. That’s why you don’t read about it, media hides cases of people defending themselves with guns and overplays tragedies.

It is the daily press conference that the White House gives. It is not done specially for this shootings in Virginia Tech.

Furthermore, in this presidency, the President has to come out quickly or he gets hammered by the press for not being involved quick enough (e.g., the Pet Goat smears ala Moore and his leftist ilk).

That’s probably very unfair ... but the thought is there

I don't really think that a specific finger can be pointed anywhere. I guess that I was just lamenting the fact that:

a)in the name of "safety", the campus put people in a position where no one could do anything.

b)People that potentially were in a position to act, didn't (or couldn't because of a) )

I lay this solely at the feet of those that condition people to believe that guns are evil and that since *they* could never responsibly carry a gun, than no one can.

Little boy, if that’s how you feel about college students, the mind reels at what you must think of a Marine infantry platoon, average age 19. We’re talking MACHINE GUNS, for all hands, both magazine and belt fed, grenades, launchers, pointed sticks, and they’ve been trained to be very unsympathetic.

Perhaps you have been gelded, but there are others who have not.
