Well Ismail is the Islamic Anglicized spelling, Ishmael the english spelling for everyone else. He appears obviously in both the Old Testament and the Koran, but with quite differing stories and levels of importance.

Who knows what it means, but it appears very likely the initial reports of Ismail Ax being written on his arm were incorrect.

I don’t think anyone was suggesting Cho was a devout Muslim well-versed in the Koran. If anything at all, he’s a sympathizer inspired by the violence of the movement. The significance of the spelling was probably completely lost on him.

Plus, we already know from his writing that he can’t spell worth a damn.
