Guys, the bottom line is it was most likely pilot error, those planes are old but they keep them maintained very well.

Exceedingly unlikely, and you would know that if you knew the skill level of these guys. These are old, tired airframes. Well maintained or not, things break.

This was NOT pilot error.

Becoming a Blue Angel is the reward for being the very best professional in the air. Flying #6 solo, means that the pilot was one of the very best, period.

The odds of this being pilot error are astronomical against it. The pilot called 'explosion' and they are looking at the engines.
