Individuals who are reacting to attacks are one thing. Folks who start out acting like idiots are another. And that goes for both sides.
And besides, when did stooping to the level of others become status quo? For that matter, when did it become something even close to proper? You can still respond to a horse’s ass with politeness, and in many cases make your point in a much clearer way.

***I’ve been doing my best, but to be candid, I was wondering where Free Republic was going if a guy supporting a socially conservative candidate on a socon forum would be taking this much flak. Now I have learned that there’s a website I can send these solibs to so that they can feel comfortable pushing their solib candidate on their solib forum. Let them go if they don’t like it here. If they choose to remain, they should be civil.
If your child and a guest get into a fight where both are guilty, you don’t kick them both out of the house, you kick the guest out, and then punish your child.
Or you don’t punish your kid, even though you should. but even though I don’t appreciate this thread, I understand that if two sides are misbehaving, the side pushing ideas in opposition to the site mission statement are going.
I don’t expect to see the site’s ALLIES thrown out in that fight. It may not be “fair”, but it is rational.
I think I’ll say one more thing a little later, and then if I’m not banned I’ll step out :-)
