T'wasn't I who was caught lying (ineptly) not once, but twice, little n00b -- the first time, regarding Reagan's stance on abortion; and the second time, on the liberal libertarian one, re: same. Right here, in full, humiliating public view.

And (the permanency of internet communications being what it is) not all your huffily ineffectual tantruming -- all delightfully red-faced, quiver-lipped indignation and girlish drumming of heels on the lineoleum notwithstanding -- can ever change that; nope, not even by so much as one measley, single iota.

Perhaps due to the limitations of how many candidates we can include in the weekly FR polls, it might be interesting to start a vaniety thread asking freepers to rank all the Republican candidates in order of preference. This would not only tell us if Fred is #1, but also how liked or disliked Rudy is compared to the rest of the field.

For instance, here’s how I’d rank the candidates in order of preference:

As you can see, I rank Rudy just about dead last, I’d even vote for McCain over him if I had to. Fred ends up right in the middle of my list, like John Kasish did in 2000. Tommy Thompson is my #1. In the earlier FR poll that included Tommy, it also had several candidates that since that time have said they’re not running (one was Tim Pawlenty, I was on his bandwagon, but have since switched my support to Tommy)

Whether Fred announces or not, I hope conservatives can unite around the goal of ABR (Anyone But Rudy)

Interesting to read this in the American Spectator.

This is absolutely right. Like several conservatives Antle mentions, I was willing to wait and see what Rudy would say. Well, now he has said it.

Regretably, I simply CANNOT vote for a pro-abortion Republican if Rudy gets the nomination. I understand that that would be disastrous, because it might lead to an even worse Democrat like hillary getting elected.

Too bad. I simply would have no choice. Because electing a pro-abortion Republican would set back the pro-life cause for another twenty or thirty years. That’s simply out of the question.

I am sure that many others will feel the same way, both conservative Catholics and Evangelicals. In fact, I would guess that Rudy would probably end up losing 20 or 30 million Evangelical votes and thus risk destroying the conservative coalition.

The obvious answer is that Rudy must not be nominated. Because there’s no way in hell that people are going to swallow their principles to that extent. No way.

The right to life is the most basic issue of all, from a religious, a moral, and a constitutional perspective. You can’t enjoy any of your other rights if you are killed before you are born. And the fallout from this kind of thinking has perverted all of our other laws as well, producing a generation of tyrannical judges.

No, it won't. That is nonsense. The USA has had some horrible presidents, including one named Clinton who had two terms to destroy our country, yet it still stands. Saying "I'm prolife BUT . . . " and then giving us this kind of propaganda to scare us into supporting Rudy is a trick that has gotten real old around here.

I'm never again falling for he Republican blackmail platform of "Vote for us or you will get them".
There is not much difference at all in Rudy and Clinton.
I would much rather have a known enemy as POTUS and try and control it with the congress, than I had have a Liberal Republican who will give the enemies anything they want while the sheep sit by and say BAAAHH!
Rudy will never get my vote period.

If we are dumb enough to nominate Rudy, then the Democrats are in a no loss situation - They win either way.
