Well, I saw that there were two SC rulings that came out yesterday involving Texas, I’ve been too busy with school to get around to reading them....guess I know what one of them said.

A man whose criminal record dated back to a bicycle theft at age nine

Some people just never learn. This is why we need the DP.

"mentally retarded and ineligible for execution"

If Cho hadn't turned his gun on himself and had been arrested instead, I'm sure his defense lawyer would've tried the same thing.

Ryan Dickson, 30, was sentenced to die for the murder of 61-year-old Amarillo grocery clerk Carmelo Surace in 1994.

And so he should.

This is Texas. Don't come around acting a fool.

Per Ron White: Other states are trying to outlaw the death penalty. My state (Texas) is putting in an express lane.

Works for me.

Dickson was the 13th Texas inmate put to death this year in the nation's busiest capital punishment state.

13th ?? Its almost MAY and they could do ONLY 13 ? They are not busy. Lackadaisical is more like it! I remember back in the late 90s when Bush was gov, the death chamber in Huntsville used to run at near full capacity with Tuesdays and Thursdays being execution nights.

he was about 17-18 when he committed the murders... that's young... well, good thing they caught him before he even entered his 20's... who knows how much more tragedy he might have caused...

I feel old RIP Ford would say... "If we could get some of them traitors up in DC down here, we could crank that number way up..."

I could not agree more!

Run, Fred, RUN!

BTW That is not a Confederate Uniform old Rip is wearing. He commanded the Cavalry of the West and Wikipedia has a brief mention of it Here.

The best description of it is in Lone Star: A History of Texas and the Texans by TR Fehrenbach.

Back in the day when I just knew I'd get Clint Eastwood's attention, I wrote up a screenplay treatment on the episode of Civil War history where there were strange bedfellows down on the Rio Grande where there were Confederate Forces, Union Forces, the forces of Juarez, French backed Mexican Royalist Forces and into this rode RIP Ford and the old men and boys of Cavalry of the West. They ran roughshod over all they encountered!

I still believe Clint would have made a great RIP Ford!

2nd BTW Old RIP Ford commanded the Confederate forces in the last battle of the American Civil War, the Battle of Palmito Ranch on May 12-13, 1865. It was a Confederate victory, but it occurred after the surrender of all Texas armies and so had no effect on the outcome of the war. It is considered the last major confrontation of the Civil War.

3rd BTW old RIP Ford was also a Texas Ranger legend!

Google that, Rosie!

They say this like it's a bad thing.
