SUSPECTED ANSAR AL-SUNNA ADMINISTRATOR, NINE OTHERS DETAINED

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition Forces detained 10 suspected terrorists Tuesday morning during raids targeting the Ansar al-Sunna and al-Qaeda in Iraq terrorist networks.

Coalition Forces operating in Mosul raided a building and detained one suspected terrorist. The individual is allegedly a senior leader in the Ansar al-Sunna terrorist group and provides weapons, documentation and financial support for the group’s criminal activities.

In another raid aimed at degrading the Ansar al-Sunna network, Coalition Forces detained six suspected terrorists in Fallujah who allegedly operate in eastern Anbar province.

Intelligence reports based on ongoing operations targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq senior leadership led to a Coalition Forces raid northwest of Taji, where three suspected terrorists were detained.

“The information we gain from these successful operations leads us one step closer to dismantling terrorist networks in Iraq and helping the Iraqi people,” said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, MNF-I spokesperson.
