The DNC's watchful eye (DNC Will Be At the Repub. Debates Handing Out Booklets!)
The Politico ^ | 5/2/07

Calif. -- Though it's tough to spoil anything in sunny Southern California, the DNC will do their best to rain on the GOP parade here tomorrow.

Tomorrow morning, they will release a research packet on the Big Three titled, "The Real Republicans."  The document, obtained by Politico, says Giuliani, Romney and McCain are "[o]ut of step with the mainstream of their party, out of step with the American people and even out of step with their own previous positions and public records.

Passing out the oppo on site at the Reagan Library will be DNC staffers Mike Gehrke and Karen Finney.   They'll be live-blogging and offering rapid response as the debate unfolds and will be backed up by a war room back in D.C. that will fact-check the Republicans.

Also, the DNC is set to launch a new website tomorrow devoted to the Republican presidential contest.  The page will include plenty of goodies on the 10 candidates on stage, but also on two others who may get in the race later, Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson.

Have to agree with them on that one.

Giuliani, Romney and McCain are "[o]ut of step with the mainstream of their party...

You'd think people could figure that out on their own just by watching the 'debate.'

Oh you agree with this too? The Republican didn't have to resort to dirty tricks when Dems debated. So it's good for DNC to do it because you don't like the top three Republicans?

It’s heretic that the DNC shows up at the Ronald Reagan Library to pass out their talking points at a Republican debate. We need to get people out there to take their booklets and then start a bonfired after the debate is over!

That sounds good to me. I think this is sickening! Republicans left their debates alone and believe me there is plenty to pass out on the Democrat candidates. It goes to show that the Democrats are a classless act!

The Dems are such crybabies lately over the David Broder column, and the Fox debate, that they would probably scream harassment if the GOP did this at one of their events. They would insist on having the intruders arrested.

You've got to read the actual document! Holy crap, how lame! Most of the stuff about Romney is guilt by association stuff. Romney was in the same room as ______ therefore, he's a racist, homophobe, pig-dog. Check this tid-bit out:

ROMNEY SHOWS NO DISDAIN FOR THE POLITICS OF DIVISIVENESS

Romney: “A Good Thing” Ann Coulter Spoke at CPAC. Romney proclaimed, during his CPAC speech, “I’m happy to learn also that after you hear me, you’re going to hear from Ann Coulter, and that is a good thing. Oh yeah!” [Romney’s CPAC Speech, 3/2/07]

• Coulter: John Edwards a Faggot. Ann Coulter, at the Conservative Political Action Conference in March said “I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out that you have to go into rehab if you use the word faggot.” She continued, “So I'm kind of at an impasse - can't really talk about Edwards.” [Austin-American Statesman, 3/9/07]

_________________

So, Ann Coulter makes a controversial remark four days after Mitt had addressed the conference and the Dems want to hold him responsible for the comment because he should have, what; seen into the future? As oppo research goes, this is just pathetic.

Looks like we have an idea where all the bull about the Republican candidates is coming from. The DNC itself.

Actually, I’d say this tells us what the Democrats wish the GOP was all about, across the board.

Just my opinion.

Great Idea.........have a few thousand show up and demand their literature.
Had a friend do this years ago in O’Hare, back when the HariKrishnas(spell?) were busy bugging everyone and handing out candy. My friend took his piece of candy, listened to their ramblings and when asked if he wanted to join, said no, but that he did want another piece of candy........He followed the poor guy all over the terminal asking for more candy. The Hari finally asked a cop to tell the guy to quit bugging him...My friend said the look on the cops face was priceless!

This could work for the Dims.

I've skimmed a half dozen pages. Here's my favorite so far of the things we're supposed to find outrageous.

Giuliani Compared Al Sharpton to David Duke. Giuliani compared black activist minister Al Sharpton to notorious former Ku Klux Klansman David Duke. When a reporter commented Sharpton had a sizable following in the black community, Giuliani said, “David Duke had a large following. So what. You make judgments about the people you think you should respond to or the people you think you shouldn't respond to.” Asked specifically if he was comparing Sharpton to Duke, Giuliani said, “I think it's a pretty apt comparison.” [Daily News (New York), 1/19/06]
