Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., will introduce legislation to end authority for the war in Iraq.The bill will propose Oct. 11, 2007, as the expiration date for the congressional resolution that authorized President George W. Why should we only settle for a law to end the war? Why not bring back the League of Nations while we are at it?
Well, to the extent that the "War Powers Act" is constitutional (I don't think it is), then, yes, it is perfectly constitutional to revoke the powers granted.
However, such a resolution would have to enter as an act of legislation, and would require the President's signature. I don't think there are 291 votes in the House or 67 votes in the Senate to override a veto, though.
If passed, can the supporters of this bill override the President’s veto!!

If Dems fought terrorism half as hard as they fight for Partial Birth Abortions this war would have been over a year ago.
