To: UKrepublican
The french are the french, and we Brits don’t like or trust them either way....although we like to holiday in the south...But that’s it!

I think we Brits we need to look at the state of our own nation or what's left of it and start acting accordingly rather than running down our neighbour especially when they've made a momentous decision to turn their country around and out of the dulldrums.

Since when did we last achieve an election turnout of 85%? That's something to be proud of, I never thought I'd speak so fondly of France but today they deserve it and we should congratulate them.

I don’t deny that. Turnout is great and we really should be ashamed of ourselves in that regard.

But they’ve hardly made that big a decision, it was either a right winger or a socialist. The French have been moving to the right for some years, yet nothing has ever actually changed.

I’ll believe it when I see it.
